Windows 7 - Simple Question

I apologize for if this has been addressed before.

When I hover my cursor over the toolbar, transparent images of all my open windows appear. I can't for the life of me figure out how to disable this annoying feature. I don't even know what the feature is called to search or google how to disable it. Please help.

Re: Windows 7 - Simple Question

Right click on the toolbar and go to properties. Then uncheck "use aero to peek to preview the desktop". It think that should fix what you are talking about.

Re: Windows 7 - Simple Question

I tried that twice before and it doesn't work. That is actually for viewing the desktop, just tried it again. The transparent images are for all my open windows (not the desktop). It seems to be a pretty standard feature just can't figure out what it is called or how to disable it.

Where on the toolbar are you hovering when this happens?

Anywhere over any of the buttons for windows that are open. If I have 6 excel files open and 5 Pokerstar tables open, if I hover over an excel button a transparent image above the toolbar shows up showing all my excel files in like a mini transparent view. If I hover over a PS button, then all of those PS files show up.

Re: Windows 7 - Simple Question

OP, you do understand that you can open any of those windows when hovering, it's a nice feature, just wanted to make sure you knew how to use it.

Re: Windows 7 - Simple Question

Oddly enough it didn't work. Check box is unchecked and the thumb nail images still show up. I'll try again later after a reboot etc... Right now going to play poker. Will let you know if still a problem when I check it out. Thanks again.

Re: Windows 7 - Simple Question

Okay I think I've got it. Found it here:

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...windows-vista/

Now instead of the images popping up, I get only the name of the window which is better (because it is so much smaller) but still annoying. It ends up hiding information that I need when playing poker at the most critical times (like someone's stack size etc...).

Thanks Jibninjas I wouldn't have gotten that far if not for you, now if I can figure out how to disable the last bit displaying the names of the files.
