It never used to do this, neither did my ipod touch. Its not the music that is taking a long time to sync, its the apps.

I have no idea why it needs to copy my apps from my phone onto my computer. I have this one app called game box, which has 25 games in one app so I guess its pretty big, and it takes like more than 10 mins to sync because of this app.

Is there any way to only sync the music or what?

This wouldnt really be a problem if I could plug my iphone into my comp just to charge, but everytime I plug it in it auto syncs. Can I turn that off?

With the iPhone or iPod plugged in, go to iTunes and click on the device on the left side list. You can then go to the tabs at the top of the page title "Music","apps","pictures" etc. and under each heading you can choose the sync items for each subheading. You can choose whether or not to sync apps, pictures, calendar events, contacts, etc. There is also an option to not sync at all, I think it is called something to the tune of "open iTunes automatically when I connect this device".

FYI all this information is on the Apple website or in iTunes under "help" :P

You could also train yourself to hit the sync button when you go to bed and don't care how long it's going to take. I only manually sync anymore and then only when there is new music I want to put on my phone.
