I would like this thread to be a place where we post any issues/conflicts we have with poker software while upgrading to Windows 10 from Win7/Win8. If everything works fine, please post that as well. I'm hesitant to upgrade as I'm sure others are as well until I get enough feedback indicating it's fine.

In my case I'm interested in PokerStars and HM2, but feel free to post about any other software as well.

FWIW the current builds of Stars' software are supposed to support 10. I think Fozzy said HM2 will only start properly testing when 10 is out of beta (which is now... so get on with it, HM2).

I see no point in upgrading for a while. A few days ago 10 still had some obvious bugs, by all accounts (although the ones I read about would have been annoyances more than anything else).

obviously u can play it safe and not upgrade for a while since u have a year to decide, but if thur no issues then i will go ahead and upgrade early

i know stars already mentioned that they support win10, but i was looking for tangible results from users that have already upgraded

I did win8.1 to Win 10 upgrade yesterday. All programs work like before including Poker Stars, Tableninja 2, and HEM2.

Do you need to reformat and back everything up or does the OS change but all your files and programs remain installed?

You have the option to remain all things the same as they were before.
That is if you used English version of Windows before if you had some other language version and try to upgrade it will keep your files but will delete your programs.

everything remains the same, like literally everything the only thing I've had to do is change the default browser settings. Its basically a install over windows 7 or 8 whichever one you had assuming your upgrading. It will keep all your programs too.

big security risk, particularly for poker players since we as a group typically have a large network of contacts and $ linked to accounts

wifi sense is enabled by default in win10, i suggest every1 disable it

I like the new tile with the gaps between windows, but i guess this is more of a preference than a problem/bug.

Good info. Thx.

So far my 4 yr old ASUS netbook has upgraded. My office PC is pending and another office PC is ineligible since the Nvidia video chipset does not have a Win 10 driver yet.

A gotcha I found is that if you log into any features using your Microsoft (hotmail) login that auto becomes your system password. That was a surprise as I use Keepass complex passwords and had to dig it out of my phone and punch in 20 characters. I shortened my PW once I got in. I am told by my business neighbor who has a PC repair shop, I can go to the security setting and set it to a local account and disable the MS login which I'll do so I can go back to a long complex MS password.

So it doesn't get lost there's an existing thread on Wifi Sense. It may be worth merging them.

If you upgrade to Windows 10 and don't like it, you have one month to roll back to 7/8:

Ha! Welcome to the world of Microsoft.

I did a clean install. Loaded a poker client and Pokertracker3. Decided to revert back to 8.1 Windows states I must remove the user account postgres first. It's not listed in Accounts.

I can tell already that I am not likely to be a fan of Windows10, nor Windows 8.1

If this was my only gripe about the recent softwares from Windows I'd just blame it on my lack of technical skills. Unfortunately my list is deep.

I've posted in the Official Pokertracker support thread (so as to not derail this thread) if anyone can help remove the account.

I started looking online to see whether the net user DOS commands would still be advisable in Win 10. Seems they are, but better still I found this, which gives you several options ending with the DOS commands if you need them.

For those of you thinking about upgrading to Windows 10 - be particularly careful that it's the genuine Microsoft update email that you're clicking on. There's a fairly successful piece of datalocker malware/ransomware exploiting upgrade carelessness.

We do not officially support it yet. We started testing to make sure there are no issues after the official W10 release. The only issues we have found so far is an issue for some users with certain graphics drivers (NVIDIA I believe) and we are still investigating the cause and possible solution. I have not had the issue on my laptop with on board Intel graphics. You can subscribe to the following forum thread to stay up to date on this issue and any other WIn10 issues that may arise - http://forums.holdemmanager.com/gene...ml#post2464926

My HM2 is crashing several times a day after upgrading to Windows 10. Never had the problem when I had Windows 8.1. I have reported the problem to the HM2 guys.

If it is that popup error we have a developer investigating it today. If it is something else please email us the logs manually as our FAQs explain to be sure we get them as our automated issue resolution assistant goes to an unmonitored inbox.

Yep, it's the popup error. Great that you have a guy working on it. It's annoying when it's crashing in the middle of sessions.

If he can find a quick fix these changes should be available in the next gold beta release. While we do not have an exact date for the release, you will receive a prompt to update once available as long as you have enabled the Settings > General > [x] Prompt for Beta Updates.

For those of you with tin-foil hats (or, simply a common-sense approach to privacy) this might be worth reading (designed to be read ahead of installation but still a useful guide if you've already taken the plunge).

By default Windows 10 uses part of your idle bandwidth to distribute updates to other PCs:
