Yesterday I put my laptop in sleep mode over night and woke up to the bsod. I shut it off then on again and got a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left. I then booted in safe mode and did a system restore point. It worked fine. I shut the computer off a few hours later and when I came home it refused to boot again.

Try removing all peripheral devices like and hard drives or printers or anything connected to the computer. I have had this issue before and it was a MP3 player that was messing with it for some reason.

Thanks Jib last night I removed all my usb devices before shutting down and this morning it booted ok. Fingers crossed.
