Wifi Connection Keeps Dropping Wifi Connection Keeps Dropping

I built a new PC around Christmas and ever since I've had it the internet would stop working occasionally but so infrequently that it wasn't really an issue. Well in the past 2 weeks or so it's started to drop a lot and often 2 or 3 times a day. Most of the time when it happens I'm running 6-9 tables, PT4, Spotify and usually have a browser open but minimized.

My router, which is a Motorala SBG6850, is about 25 feet away in the other room.

Does it happen to other devices? Have you tried plugging in an ethernet cable instead to test it out?

I'm assuming that it's a desktop with an internal wireless card?

Has anything recently appeared in the area that might be interfering? Once when I had similar issues it took me ages to work out that a baby monitor was the most likely culprit...

Otherwise, assuming you can't move the machine or router, you should be able to buy a long Ethernet cable for $10 or so. Might be worth checking whether it is your wireless connection or the connection to the wider world that's the issue.

I have not had it happen on other devices but I'm also not on them that frequently.

Correct about the desktop internal card.

Nothing new that I can think of. There is a TV in between the router and my computer although it is usually off if that matters.

I'll look into the ethernet cable.

I also have another router that I was thinking of setting up that would be closer to my computer. Good idea?

Try removing the wifi card from device manager and rebooting

failing that, try updating wifi drivers
