What 27" monitors are we buying? What 27" monitors are we buying?

I'm looking for poker and watching movies only. I'm willing to spend money, but want bang for my buck. Not really keen on spending over $1000, unless somebody convinces me.

I have a baller laptop, but keep it on 1600 x 900 resolution instead of the recommended 1920 x 1080 because I don't like everything so damn small. I watch movies on my slingbox and projectfreetv so I don't guess better resolution is going to make that look any better . . .?

I was looking at this one as a starting point:
Dell U2715H 27 inch LCD Monitor Black - (16:9, 2M:1, 350 cd/m2, 2560 x 1440, 8ms, HDMI) £425.00

Thanks for the advice.

*I guess I should add that the monitor will be connected to my laptop:
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 970M 3GB GDDR5
Maximum supported output resolutions: HDMI: 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz

Increase the windows font size to deal with everything looking so small

Thanks but it's more about the max size of a Stars table than font size.

I got this http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-WQHD-L...2+inch+monitor for a work monitor and am pretty happy with it. It's not as good as the Apple monitor it replaced but it's also $300 dollars less. It's a samsung, probably wouldn't go wrong getting one closer to your budget.

Thanks, but it doesn't have screws in the back for a VESA mount, which is a prerequisite for me. I guess I will go with the DELL if nobody speaks up.

Dell model you've mentioned is great. I've got 24" Dell with 16:10 ratio and am very happy with it.
