Want to make an old Desktop Wireless Capable

Hey,

I wanted to know if it was possible to install something in my desktop that allows it to use wireless internet. I built my computer a while back (5 years ago), so I am relatively unfamiliar about parts, how to install them, and where I buy them from.

I would be using this desktop about 30-40 feet away from a wireless router.

Thanks

the short answer: yes. but in my opinion it's going to be easier and more reliable to just use ethernet (wired).

I was going to paste a link to newegg's wireless adapter page, but I realized that they have a buying guide / wireless adapter info page here: http://www.newegg.com/product/Catego...?articleId=224

give that a quick read and then post back an overview of your computer specs and your router model # to see what might be the best option for you if wireless is still the way you want to go.

If your old PC has USB slots then for $10 on ebay you can get a wireless adapter. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=...reless+adapter

No USB slots? Get a PCI card for $20 (it plugs into your motherboard)

or go for a PCI card that will give you a few USB slots then go with option A and extra usb slots for something else.

This. And if it's 5 years old you more than likely have plenty of USB ports.
