VERY strange problem with Bovada, my MacBook Pro, and Apple TV2!?!?! VERY strange problem with Bovada, my MacBook Pro, and Apple TV2!?!?!

I am having a very strange issue with Bovada, my MacBook Pro, and my Apple TV. I have a home theater with speakers connected to my Apple TV that I can play sound through my MacBook Pro, iPhone, or whatever. I just need to connect that device to my Apple TV and the audio will play through my speakers.

Something happened recently (maybe a Bovada update?). Now every time I play poker on Bovada (on my MacBook Pro), the sound goes through my Apple TV and plays on my home theater speakers.

This does not happen with any other program on my MacBook Pro. I do not manually connect Bovada to my Apple TV. Bovada just connects automatically and plays the sound through the speakers (every time I open the program).

I contacted Apple support and they ruled out anything wrong with my Apple TV or my MacBook Pro. All other programs work correctly and do not automatically connect to my Apple TV without me connected manually. Bovada is the only program having this issue.

I really need to figure out how to correct this. Anyone have ANY ideas that could fix this?

Thanks!!!

PS: I have also tried uninstalling and re-installing Bovada. That didn't help.

Yup. I've had the same issue. It's Bovada's fault. Here's a possible fix (which may mute the Bovada sound completely, but will stop it trying to play through the ATV):

1. Open Activity Monitor (Found in /Applications/Utilites)

2. Go up to the "View" menu and choose "Other User Processes"

3. Highlight the process called "coreaudiod" then click on the button that looks like a stop sign with an X in it and select Force Quit

I have to do this every time I open up Bovada or it tries to play through the AppleTV and the poker software lags like crazy.

Is this still the only solution to this problem? I'd like to just have the sound play through my computer speakers instead of randomly streaming to the Apple TV.

(Actually I'm watching Netflix on the Apple TV, but then I get booted out once I fire up the Bovada application on my computer. It like hijacks my Apple TV)

Anyone else have an AppleTV that plays on Bovada? Does everything work fine for you. Or were you having the same issue, but found a solution?

I'd still like to get a real fix for this so I can watch something on my AppleTV and play on Bovada. Like Poker1809, my AppleTV is hijacked as soon as I start up Bovada.

So, I am having nearly the same problem with my Apple TV/Bovada/MacBook Pro setup and it is mind-numbingly frustrating.

I have an Apple TV, latest generation device (hardwired through an ethernet port); currently, I am watching 'The Office' on Netflix. I have my Bovada poker client open on my Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) using OS X Yosemite version 10.10.3.

Every time I open a poker table, whatever show I am streaming on Apple TV will back out to the menu, just as if I had hit the "Menu" button on the remote, halting my viewing experience. It will also begin to play the sound of the table sound fx, alarm action, etc. through my television speakers.

Granted, both my Macbook Pro and my Apple TV are connected through the same wi-fi, but they shouldn't be connected in any other way. I've certainly never accessed one via the other in any form.

Any ideas? I'm fairly capable with computer technology, so assume I've troubleshooted obvious such as looking through virtually every setting accessible through the Bovada client settings function.

Any help? Any ideas?

I do not know if this will help, but step 1 should be to update your OS to 10.10.5.

I FINALLY figured out a solution.

I went to my Apple TV and disabled Airplay on it. This way Apple TV will not be visible from my Mac. Therefore the Bovada client cannot connect to it.

Bovada sound is now back on my Mac again!

I suspect there are possibly other solutions (such as forcing users who try to connect to Apple TV to have to enter a password via Settings > Airplay). But I didn't try because disabling Airplay works for me. If you actually use Airplay, you might want to try this route to see what happens. I'm assuming it'd work because Bovada can't connect to Apple TV unless you put in the proper password.
