Having a problem where my USB mouse stop responding, seemingly randomly. Restarting computer fixes it

Its not the mouse itself, I've tried 3 different mice
I dont think the USB ports themselves are broken - other things work when connected to the same ports, and the mice even "light up" when plugged in, and are displayed under display manager..they just dont respond/work

What should I do here?

I dont have any specific drivers installed for it, just "HID Compliant mouse", so dont think its a driver problem (worked for 2 years without issue)..going to try installing specific drivers

Could it be a power issue, USB ports not giving it enough power, enough for lights but not enoug hto respond?

Try using a different keyboard and/or see if the problem still occurs when no other USB devices are connected.

I had a dying mouse one time that caused the entire computer to become completely unresponsive (keyboard wouldn't do anything, keyboard lights wouldn't toggle, sound would stop playing, etc...sometimes it would even BSOD). The mouse never visibly indicated issues. I tried updating drivers, individually disabling certain hardware and testing, etc. Replacing the mouse solved everything. (I know that you already tried other mice, but my point is that it could be other USB devices causing the issue you experience.)

Its a laptop, so no keyboard. I dont have anything else connected via USB normally. Sometimes a phone charger or a USB 4g modem, but they arent normally in use. Ill plug that out and see if it changes anything

USB power management was my first thought. Apparently not an easy thing to fix under Win7, I found this tl;dr topic on a quick search, not sure if they provide a solution though:
