I could really use some help. I don't really know much about computers but I love playing poker. 3 months ago I bought an HP Envy m6 to use for playing poker. The only things I have on the comp are Betonline, juicy stakes, lock, and bovada poker software. I multitable using placemint to shrink the tables and I run tournament indicator on each table as I play.

After 1st month my computer completely crashed and operating system (win8) completely disappeared. After taking it to Staples $250 later I had a new hard drive, Windows 8 reinstalled with a backup Win 8 32g usb stick, they also installed Norton Antivirus.

After 2 more months, completely crashes again. Went to get on google chrome and I get a message that says "check memory management". Then computer shuts off, wont boot up. Got the 32g recovery stick, went to boot it and get something that says win8 recovery not compatible with hp thank you, leaving me an option to click Ok. So basically its totally crashed again.

Is my computer not sufficient for what I am using it for?

What everything you buy has at least a 6 month warranty. If it was bought new. If when you buy it they don't offer a 6 month warranty there probably a reason why they don't and better to buy one from somewhere else.

There normally a helpline aswell as the best poeple to ask if you have a problem is the people who built it.

I had lots of crashes with my old p.c. but that because it was old.Really your whole operating system disserpeared i didn't know that could happen sounds serious whatever it is.

I bought the computer at best buy. It had a manufacturer warranty on parts but of course best buy wanted to charge me 180 to diagnose it and then more to install it, plus additional charges to reinstall the software. I made a deal with the manager at staples and he put the new hardrive in 2 months ago and hooked me up with the windows 8 and norten antivirus. Now I have a decision to make.

The guy at staples thinks the hard drive crashed again. so...I can either A) have him put an SSD hardrive in and reinstall windows. B) call Hp and see if I can talk them into taking the computer back and giving me a new one although they prob wont because I've already had it worked on. Or C) Get a brand new PC custom built with a warranty.

any suggestions?

can an SSD hardrive still crash? would that solve my problem if I am continually burning up hard drives for whatever reason?

Is it definitely the HDD that has failed? HDDs are pretty reliable these days and it is unusual for 2 to die in such a short time frame.

If this is the 2nd HDD that has failed, you might have other problems and the failed HDD is just a symptom - for example, faulty power supplies can cause all sorts of weird problems (including loss of HDDs). If you have an underlying problem like this, putting an SSD in won't resolve the problem.

Is the HDD viewable in the BIOS? (F10 at bootup on a HP laptop)

Your error message said something about check memory management - have you checked the RAM?

I would consider calling HP - they have never refused a warranty repair for me, even when I have changed parts.
