A second HD for laptop

Hi, I want to manage a large database on my laptop and understand I need a SSD. I don't want to replace my 500gb 7200rpm HD so I have found two options;

1) Replace optical drive with a drive caddy and install a SSD like this: http://www.justop.com/catalog/techni...bay-caddy.html

2) Have an external SSD.

I have a Vaio-VPCF22C5E, running windows 7 64 bit.

What do you guys think?

I'm not sure an external SSD makes sense. USB is much slower than SATA ports

Option 1. You'll want to install windows onto the SSD because it will super speed up your computer.

Also, what are the pro's and cons of running windows off the SDD instead of only HEM+pokersites ?

If Windows is on the SSD your computer will start very fast and Windows will be very snappy.
