Resale value of Dell U3011 monitors? Resale value of Dell U3011 monitors?

Hey all,

I am trying to find the resale value of this monitor: http://www.dell.com/ed/business/p/dell-u3011/pd

I am moving abroad and not sure whether to ship the monitors or try to find a local buyer. Shipping would cost ~$150usd/monitor.

The screens are in below average condition, but fully functional.

Opinions appreciated, thanks.

Try to sell locally. $150 shipping each will make them too expensive vs new monitors.
I see an ebay BIN for $440, but I also see a U3014 for $388, so I think $440 is probably optimistic for the older model. Then subtract for the below average condition and adjust for how quickly you would like to sell them. Assuming the panels themselves are in decent shape, you can probably ask $350-400. If the panels are scratched or have dead/stuck pixels or wonky backlights, you might have to drop down to like $250.

Does the Dell (assuming new condition) have any significant advantages over this monitor? https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...16824276433CVF

The above after shipping & taxes is ~$550 CAD ($413 USD). I'm just trying to estimate the retail price of available equivalent products. But I don't know how to determine whether a product is equivalent. The U3011 seems to have retained a relatively fair bit of value over the past 7 years.

The Dell has a better stand and is a 16:10 ratio panel (some of us nerds still prefer the additional vertical res). I'm not sure what the "Technicolor Certification" is on the HP, but the Dell covers 100% SRGB and 99% ARGB. Side by side, most people will pick the 32"HP over the Dell at similar cost. I think there is a small market that places a premium on a 16:10 panel. Selling locally, you may need to just list for $350 obo and take the first $300 someone offers. If the monitors are worn a bit beyond standard case scuffs, probably list at $300 and be willing to take $250.

All of this is assuming you don't have the space or use for these in your destination. If you are going to have to buy a monitor or monitors in your new location, it may be worth shipping to yourself. 2560x1600 is still above average screen real estate and these were pro-grade monitors when launched.

according to this, the wholesale price for fair condition is ~$410 USD
