Hey I'm having a strange issue with remote desktop.

I use Cisco VPN to connect to my work network at home and use RM to log into the computer.

My work password login password expired and I changed it over vpn. It continued to work fine that day but since then I haven't been able to connect.


The VPN works fine. I can reach the computer. It just wont recognise my credentials even though I'm using the new password.

I can use RM to connect fine to another computer on my home network. And I can use other computers to connect to the work computer so the issue is solely with this connection on my home computer.


Anyone have any idea of what is wrong? Is there a conflict with the old password credentials?

I'm having this problem again and can't diagnose it. I can ping my work computers fine, but the RDC just closes when I put in my log in details.

Did you ever store your credentials anywhere? Are you locked out of your work domain? Are your authentication attempts getting through to your work domain?

Not sure what client or OS you are using but some RDP clients keep a file of know hosts and sometimes there is a bug that if host information has changed it rejects the connection. The solution is to delete the file.

Sigh. I reinstalled Windows 7 and this was working perfectly for about four or five weeks. Then it stopped working again, I noticed that there had been a Windows update installed that day and reinstalled Windows again but the problem persisted.

I deleted the RDP files but that didn't work.

Again, I can access any computer on my network but it's only the issue only happens when accessing a computer through VPN. But I can access the work computer through VPN from another computer.

Sigh, had to change work computer credentials, and now RDC keeps crashing every time I try to log in again.

Have done all the usual fixes of deleting the cache files.
