Recommand a pc for poker in 2017? Recommand a pc for poker in 2017?

Hello,

Recently I want to buy a new pc only for serious poker work. I currently own a pc for work and poker with an i3 processor. So I don't want waste one license of any poker software on this pc.

However, I'm a newbie in selecting a pc, and I don't want sellers to talk me into a pc that's not proper for me. So I would like some help from you guys.

I want the computer to :
- have a relatively big screen since I'm usually not at home, I will have to play poker with no extra monitor.

- be compatibe with softwares like HM2, flopzilla, PIOSolver, Skype, etc. So MacBook isn't ideal I guess. Maybe Thinkpad is best?

- be able to run these softwares smoothly. So CORE i5 is the minimum I think ? Also the temporary disc storage(what's it called) ?

- Remind me of any other aspects.

I'm not a pro, but I want to be. I play nl50-nl100 zoom as a college student.

Thank you in advance.

Uhh... Things that might help you:
  • A budget.
  • Reading the first few pages of this forum (and particularly the many threads asking what is essentially exactly the same question as yours).
  • Some indication of what country you're in.
  • Desktop or laptop? It sounds as though you have no idea that desktop PCs even exist, and have a laptop in mind, but do set us straight if not.
  • A budget.
  • Reading the first few pages of this forum (as above).
  • A budget.
  • Did I mention a budget?

Hey Stinky Stu,

Thank you for the recommandation. But I think 13.3 is a bit small. I'd prefer at least 15?

I believe you can upgrade this with a bigger monitor.

If you can spend 1500 euro and want a 15" screen, I think you can probably pick up a quadcore mobile proc. This will be faster for multi-tasking but come at a cost of additional weight and thickness. I'll poke around a bit for SKUs if I get a chance this weekend.
