30 second video of me moving the laptop lid a bit and you see some changing color.

Oh and the reason why you see nothing showing on my laptop screen is because its connected to an extended monitor in case anyone is wondering.

Yes i know... another poker laptop thread. Well a while back i had posted for a laptop recommendation. I use to play on a desktop quad core with no issues. But since i relocated out of usa to play... well i need a laptop. I had a laptop... asus i3 laptop 370m that was okay. But with 20 tabling with hem1 and tableninja... it lagged a lot. I upgraded to 8gb ram and also put in 256 ssd. It did perform better but i still had that lag when i was close to 18 tabling.

I posted a thread here and wanted a laptop that can handle 20 tabling with hem2 and tableninja/tableoptimizer. I also wanted a smaller screen laptop at 14 inches as oppose to 15 inches. My asus is 14 inches and looked very nice... similar to like macbook if you will and wanted something like this. I was told by many posters to get a quad core laptop. Basically there are very few quad core laptops that are 14'. Those that are quad core usually 15' or 17' which is way too big. Now i know i use laptop at apartment close to 100 percent and connect to external monitor... and play on that... i dont play on my laptop monitor only. But i dont want a huge bulky laptop.

I got recommended to buy a sager np2740. It was pretty expensive laptop but i got it figuring it would last a long time and since its 14' and looks decent, no issue. Well i had it for a bit and nothing but issues. From battery going out with replacement to it acting strange to my monitor having a flickering spot in it... i think its time to get a new laptop. I will try to have my sager laptop fixed with the screen but i think i should possibly get another laptop in case of backup.

Does anyone have specific laptop they can recommend me? I also think its probably a good idea to stay away from a quad core? Reason is b/c it drains the battery very much. Now i know i use it inside and have it plugged in with the external monitor, but my sager laptop has internal battery which i dislike. No clue it was internal until i got it. I had to go to repair shop to replace battery after i bought battery from sager...b/c theres lot of screws to unscrew and even sager told me i shouldn't do it if i dont know what im doing.

Im thinking any i5 or i7 should be sufficient? The other thing is i got 1920x1080 resolution on sager which is nice if i use it without a monitor. But is that really necessary? It does look good when web browsing though. However, I dont think majority of ppl even use a quad core laptop and most use i5 or i7. Can someone give me some recommendation for a laptop that i can buy through amazon.com? I seen quite a bit of asus, hp, lenovo and dell etc. I also make sure i get an SSD as well. My other question is this. I have a 256gb ssd in my old asus laptop. If new laptop has a 256gb, can i put both in the new laptop so i have 512gb? Or would i have to buy brand new 512gb ssd? Basically even if i get my sager laptop fixed the screen... well theres the 256gb ssd there and my old asus laptop that has 256gb ssd.

As for the pricing, I don't really want to spend a lot of money on it. I spent a lot on that sager np2740 and not happy at all with it. I also dont play any games on it. Basically its online poker... lot of google chrome tabs and streaming/watching videos. So i dont do anything intensive on it as online poker with hem2/tableoptimizer is the most i do with 20 tables.

Thanks.

Haven't read any of your wall of text, but the most annoying threads in this forum are "spec me a laptop for online poker".

There are tons of threads, read them. Come up with your own spec, find a laptop that meets it and then ask for opinions. You'll get much better responses and maybe you'll learn something about your computer this way.

People that just ask for a laptop to be spec'd for them without doing any of the work should be abused, imo.

Clearly from the pictures the screen and or graphics card is faulty.

Xotic pc told me it was either loose cable, faulty cable or screen.
After i showed them some of these pictures, the guy said okay now that is most likely the screen.

The repair shop i went to here, he said 100 percent its the screen.

They both told me well if you connect to external monitor and have no issues there, its not any other issue. They both said its not graphic card because of that reason.

However, i had lot of issues lately with my computer such as the huge clicking thing. But that seemed to have stopped. Also when i click start and highlight chrome, that doesn't show the webpage, seems to be like broken... but it still does work.

But its lcd replacement screen, i know you can get replacement. If its graphics card... does that mean i cannot have it replaced? Which problem is the one that i want on my laptop for simpliest to fix? I do know if its cable issue, xotic pc told me well that would be cheaper. Lcd replacement is a lot more. But i assume fixing that i assume lcd replacement is a lot tougehr right?

For graphics card replacement, is that possible? And how so does it compare to hardness to replace it or fix it?

I'm fairly positive that what you've taken a picture of indicates an issue with your display, especially since hooking up an external monitor resolves the issue.

RE: your other issue, have you tried running Malwarebytes to scan for malware?
Questions, questions Quote

Yes i have done avast and malwarebytes. Doesn't pick anything up. And yes external monitor at the moment has no issues at all. So i could still use the computer now basically on my main monitor which is main screen. The laptop screen is more like for the poker lobby and watching video or streaming something.

Im curious but is there a possible chance it could be a bad graphics card? Someone had mentioned this to me. The computer shop here tells me that isn't the case b/c you could extend the monitor to external and no issues. However, around this time... my laptop had this huge issue where i tried to left click certain items on my desktop and it went crazy such as are you sure you want to delete this program... would show up 50 times etc. Only way to really fix this issue was restart laptop.

This is a link to similar what someone else posted and this is exact thing i had. It happened for few days... however no issue anymore. I know its 100 percent not my keyboard and i believe its hardware issue as others mentioned. So hardware is related to graphics card right?

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/48...ick-recyclebin

I wonder if this is all related? I ask this is because when i had this issue... i had it the night before the laptop screen messed up. Do you think theres a correlation to it? The other issue is when i click start... i usually go and click on google chrome. Around this time, when i go to chrome... it doesn't show chrome icon. Its like a broken icon. Such as imagine you want to play or open a file... but it says show what program you want to open it with for example.

Could this be all related? And if its indeed the graphics card, is that fixable with my sager np2740? So i assume easiest issue to fix would be cable wire... then its lcd replacement... then its graphics card? Or would lcd replacement be toughest? I will obviously have someone else do it as im not tech savy person.

My last thread got closed. From now on, i will write less details so it doesn't seem like its clusters of text.

- 20 Table with Holdem manager 2 and tableoptimizer
- Lot of google chrome windows/tabs
- Stream youtube, watch videos etc
- Don't play any games on computer
- Basically its for online poker and your everyday use

Current setup is a 14.1 laptop quadcore laptop connected to external monitor. I always connect it to external monitor with 1920x1200 resolution as thats how i play. Based on that, would it basically not matter at all what size is the laptop? I always preferred 14.1' laptop since to me, its right in the middle. 13.3' looks too small... 15.6 is bit too big. However since my computer is on my desk pretty much all the time, i guess 13.3' is perfectly fine? Also, does anyone here really notice a different in screen size between 13.3 and 14.1 laptops?

1. http://www.amazon.com/ZenBook-UX303U...s=asus+zenbook

This looks very nice. I assume upgrading to i7 and the 512gb ssd is not worth it? Pretty high price increase. Guess just getting a 512 gb ssd only is worth it and the i7 isn't? Buying itself individually i mean. If i have spare 256gb ssd, can i just put that one in as well along with this default one? Or would i need to buy a new one. Then just sell the 256gb ssd since i won't need it?

2. http://www.amazon.com/Zenbook-UX305L...+zenbook+ux305

I assume if yes to this one... easy upgrade for 40 dollars to i5 6th generation right? This is pretty much similar to the first one exact a bit older version i believe.

3. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01...DN8PFXXT0433MW

Gaming laptop and 15.6'. Seems to have good reviews. However, internal battery is something i kinda want to stay away from.

4. http://www.amazon.com/F555LA-EH51-In...asus+i5+laptop

This seems similar laptop as the one above. Obviously upgrading to i7 for 80 dollars more is a no brainer? Obviously i have to put in a new ssd for this. No 1080p resolution though. I know my sager laptop looks nice even by itself with 1080p. Makes web browsing lot better. Also has internal battery

5. http://www.amazon.com/Dell-5000-15-6...ywords=dell+i7

Dell laptop. Couldn't really find anything much better. So just posted a dell laptop that i saw from amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/HP-i7-6700HQ-Q...ad+core+laptop

Quad core hp laptop. Reviews seem to be mixed. One link has lot of bad review.... the other mostly good. Also i know people say get a quad core but for some reason i feel that quad core laptops seem to cause more issues since it isn't a desktop. I know battery for any quad core is horrible.

7. http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ThinkPa...o+thinkpad+550

Would you say just avoid lenovo laptops? Many seem to be business type laptops. This is the rare lenovo laptop that has good reviews. Every other lenovo laptop on amazon seem to have negative reviews.

A while back when i was playing poker on my computer, the electricity in my building went out completely. This happened a few times. Once where it was entire building, other time it was just my and few other apartments. I had made sure i had backup internet in case my internet went out which is very normal here.

I'm not very used to electricity outages. Of course when that happens, you still have whatever battery that is left on your laptop battery. Issue though is even if you have a laptop with great battery, you not going to get over 2.5 hours at the max fully charged with hem2 and tableptimizer/tableninja on.

I was then told about getting a power source. I checked amazon and i see one here

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Continuou...s=power+source

Normally, how long would this make your laptop last longer for? I know desktops use a lot of energy. So for something like this if electricity in laptop went out, this would probably give maybe 1 hour max extra? Is it possible to have say a 5 hour battery backup for your laptop if thats possible? If so, how does that work? Would you need something a lot more expensive than this or buy 2 or more of these?

I lot quite a bit of money when my power went out and i didn't really have much of an option. It came between okay waiting for the power to go back or taking a cab and heading to a starbucks or place where i could sit down and connect it to an electric outlet. Few times electricity went out, then it came back within 15 minutes so that wasn't that of an issue since my laptop battery still worked etc.

I'm guessing other alternative would be getting one of these only... then in a 5 minute break, you just go immediately to any place that you know has an electric outlet? The other issue is what if its pretty late though and many places are closed etc like starbucks. Thats another huge issue as well.

You have 5 threads on the first page of CTH, that's enough. Please don't open any more threads in CTH until these threads are off the front page.

To the best of my knowledge there are no battery solutions for using a computer during a power outage. They are designed to give you time to safely shut down the computers to protect the hard drives. You are looking for a generator. DO NOT OPEN A THREAD ABOUT GENERATORS.

This. Haha.

Pauly, like Kerowo says, a UPS is designed to get you through blips in power supply, not long outages. You may have to just stop playing at that point. Or play a couple of tables on your iPhone if you really can't stop. Keep that charged up (although we know from your other threads that you have as much trouble with your phone battery as you do with your laptop).

If you're not using the laptop screen, it doesn't matter what size the laptop screen is.

If you are using the laptop screen, then get whichever size you prefer using.

I'm surprised you don't ask us more often what time to get up in the morning or what to eat.

Your graphics card is powering your external monitor. If that's working fine then it seems unlikely that the GPU is the problem.

I've given up trying to work out what your actual problem is in this thread, but it seems from the last few posts that everyone you've spoken to, from manufacturer, to the repair shop that didn't exist a couple of posts earlier, to people responding here, thinks that your problem is the screen.

The guy told you he can't get a screen but can fix it if you get one. So what you might need to do is get a screen yourself?

Just to clarify, I don't think it's sketchy that you need to authenticate a live chat session with a password. That could be a good thing: presumably it helps them stop third parties getting access to your account.

Having re-read your first post (you really do make it difficult to help you) perhaps the problem is simply that the live chat support window is a webpage, and you've told your browser to remember the password? You can delete saved passwords in a similar way to deleting other autofilled text. Try that.

I own plenty of laptops that will run over 10 hours. There are business laptops with extended batteries, with enterprise laptops there is also a docking port on the bottom. You can get an entire slice/dock battery that fits on the the bottom and gives you double the battery life.

A simple UPS battery will give you enough time to keep your modem/router etc on and your internet connection alive, to properly close and finish your hand or orbit.

Couple of Questions,

System Compressed memory, What is this and what exactly does it do? What are the benefits of it?

I did this and it doesn't seem to be coming up in my task manager as far as I can tell...as it just kept on making my computer really choppy at times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_yv-sZxub4

Also I guess I have the same questions for "antimalware service executable"....

https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexp...w-build-10525/

It compresses items in memory, rather than transferring them to the paging file. The idea being that compressed memory is faster to retrieve than paged memory.

After looking at some laptops I think I found some decently priced ones,

Couple of questions though,

I'm not too informed about AMD processors and Graphics but how do the below compare to intel?

AMD A8 7410 Quad Core
AMD Radeon R5 Graphics

Also how easy/hard is it to change a HDD to a SDD in a Laptop? Personally I am very comfortable opening up a desktop computer and swapping things out etc, never really done it in a laptop.

I don't know enough about the specifics of processors to advise, so I'll leave that to someone else. But for the SSD part, it is normally very easy (excluding some ultrabooks) - literally just a couple of screws. If you type your laptop model number into youtube there will be a video on how to replace.

is there a way of reinstalling windows 10 without a disc? I have it on my PC now but long story short I play online games and I keep on getting tabbed out of the games at random points, I have tried to find what is doing this but I cannot put my finger on it. doing a clean install would be easiest for me. Is it possible without a disc? I upgraded from windows 8.1
