Hi

Whenever I open the Pokerstars client i get an alert from my anti virus, which states that some form of malware has been detected.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Its Kapersky anti virus. If that helps?

I'm sure you can set up an exception rule in Kaspersky and put your entire pokerstars directory in there, to get rid of the false positives

Hi luvabeard,

I recently encountered the same problem and sent Stars an email, this is their response.

Thank you for your email.

First, I would like to assure you that the PokerStars software is completely virus and adware free. We continually run virus and adware checks on our software and servers to ensure that the software stays clean. So we do not know why Kaspersky is classifying our software as dangerous.

However, please check the settings of Kaspersky to ensure that our software is not blocked any longer.

To configure Kaspersky Internet Security suite please visit the software support page below for more detailed instructions:

Here's the list of programs that you need to add to the firewall's safe zone:

PokerStars GUI (or .exe)
PokerStarsUpdate.exe
PokerStarsCommunicate.exe
PokerstarsBr.exe
Tracer.exe
xc.exe

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

I wish I'd get 1$ for every time a user posts about an AV alert of his gambling software

Can you tell me why the pokerstarsBr.exe wants to run as a server on my machine please? I always deny it and can acess the games without allowing it to exucute. Please always state the purpose/function of this execution please?

Sorry, realised this was a response from PS. I will email them, but it would be great if a rep could answer ITT

If you want a rep to answer ITT then you'll need to PM one of them. Pretty sure they don't read all of 2+2 as a matter of course.

Try to make Page Amina for the program and this will not prompt you to shut it down anymore

I wouldn't be surprised for two reasons.

1) my past dealings with PokerStars although it is unfair to say they are the same now have been very bad and led me to believe this is a shady company.

2) Ive been looking into this virus odlanor.a , which of course is Ronaldo backwards.

2b) Kaspersky is one of the best antivirus out there. edit: and they have done more good for the world than PokerStars imo

1. Judging from your posts around the forums you also think Party and 888 are shady. Why play online at all?

2. You've been looking into it? Do share the results of your investigation. And while you're at it, please share what conclusions you have reached from the name it was given by some antivirus company.

2b. That may well be the case. But it doesn't stop false positives.

(good save on the "two reasons" - but three is still three)

Yes, the results of you looking into this virus (and particularly why it's relevant here).

Impressive detective work.

Don't look into what the virus is, how it works, what it targets, just look at the spelling of its name and draw conclusions from that.

Awesome.

Conclusive proof that Real Madrid are the evil perpetrators of something or other.

yeah but when you couple the fact that PokerStars employees used to severely abuse me at the tables it makes for an interesting story, at least in my corner of the world.

not only because its Ronaldo backwards but because other people had mentioned the name of the virus on a poker site just before Ronaldo was signed.

sorry that you guys are even more miserable than I am its rare , but do try to keep an open mind, about if this is an attack against pokerstars, a virus created by a pokerstars affiliate or just some random malware.

How would pokerstars abuse you at the table? I don't want to derail this thread but I'm intrigued? Pokerstars staff are not allowed to play on the client, or do you mean sponsored pros?

actually the chat moderators were technically not employees as they worked for FPP's or VPP's or w/e they are called. For some reason one of those moderators felt the need to tell me that he/she "chooses to do the bidding of Lucifer"

of course I got the Tony G like emails from them too, some telling me I played bad and some telling me I played good.

When you accuse the leading poker room in the world, that has built up a HUGE amount of trust in this industry, without any basis for the allegations other than the backwards spelling of a word.... is it any wonder you get abused?

tbh, I've struggled not to abuse you so far.

Really respect the honesty, mahnahmahnah.

Just know this, im being honest as well, I have no reason to lie and im not looking for a cent or a lawsuit against Stars or anything atm.

Edit: Also know this, everyone ive told was shocked/ had the same response.
