Brain frying problem

have an old desktop it only has one VGA ouput no other outputs at all.

intel(r) G33/G31 Express chipset family

so i will call the two tv's TV1 and TV2 to make it easier to follow

i bought two VGA to HDMI converters and one VGA splitter , i will replicate the image of one output to two screens. (same image both screens)

TV1 when plugged in ALONE works perfect 1920 x1080 picture using HDMi converter and HDMI cable

TV2 using a standard VGA cable ALONE gives perfect 1920 x 1080 picture

1920 x 1080 is also native / recommended setting in display settings.

So now i plug the splitter at each end of the splitter i use a VGA to HDMI converter - then a HDMI cable plugged into each of them, then plug into each TV

this is where it gets confusing.......
TV1 is showing image as it should it fits to screen in 1920x1080 mode using splitter + converter fills screen perfect

but TV2 will not resize. the windows logo/start button is off the screen both horizontally and vertically and same on right side screen the windows notification area is also cut off.
windows is still telling me 1920 x 1080 is recommended but it will not scale correctly, the only way to scale is if i change it to 1280 x 800 but this makes everything huge , but windows fit properly.

TV1 has more available setting i.e panoramic/wide screen/unscaled/auto format etc
TV2 only has Full screen and 4:3 options (built into tv)

PC - vga splitter - 2 x vga to hdmi converters - hdmi cable from each to each tv

all cables and converters individually work as they should.

i cant figure out whats the problem here. what am i missing ......

also to add
i have gone through every option available in resolutions i.e 1600x900 1920x1080 1024x768 (too many to list) and i get these responses
either both don't support that resolution or one will one wont and vice versa.

i know my best option is to probably just buy a cheap video card but was hoping to not have to. As TV1 is used just to watch a movie on and TV/monitor2 is used for everyday use i.e forums email youtube etc

if im missing info tell me i will add straight away

thanks

if i use hdmi to TV1 and just standard VGA to TV/monitor2 i can use it fine

only at 1280x768

if i change it to 1920x 1080 Tv1 cuts out (no picture) but tv/monitor two works perfect with proper resolution

this is too confusing for me

would really like 1920x1080 tho so if anyone has any advice would be appreciated

AFAIK VGA can't output more than ~3MP (2048*1536), and even that is way above its original standard. It seems one screen at 1080p and the other at 1200*800 is your limit.

1920*1080 + 1200*800 = 2.07MP + 0.96MP = 3MP

Theoretically it should be possible to create a custom output resolution by sacrificing frame rate, but it's not given your GPU or the adapter support such a tweak, let alone in combination. There's no sure formula for success, it's more of a try and error hack job, and it bears the risk of hardware corruption. You're best off just buying a cheap graphics card with two digital outputs.

as far as i can tell, OP is attempting to mirror desktop to both screens, so the resolution of both screens added together wouldn't have impact.

This is the best solution:

but failing that, my only thought regarding this setup is: how are the VGA to HDMI adapters being powered? perhaps using the VGA splitter before the VGA to HDMI adapters is causing an issue of signal strength or power.

Yes could be the splitter messing with it, but its one of the essential parts needed, i was trying to save time/money(pennies) by buying these splitters/converters, i will just buy a android TV box (which i shoulda done originally )

the converters are powered by usb ports on back of pc. individually working perfect
together i get 2 x 1080p outputs except one is too large for screen and screen has no extra options to rescale. And actually had another go at it yesterday and think when both are connected i lose picture clarity too

i'll buy a android box and i'll be sorted

thanks for replies

instead of the splitter and converters, u can try a usb to hdmi converter like this:
https://www.amazon.com/External-Grap...dp/B019E1W6HK/

with this setup, u can mirror or extend the desktop. with the splitter u can only mirror
