Is It OK To Delete All These Files? Is It OK To Delete All These Files?

I'm not very computer savvy. I just learned some so I could play online poker.

Recently I deleted an online poker site that I won't explain why it is a rip-off because it would take too long.

I have an old computer & an old OS. I went to the screen where you search & there is a little dog. The top two lines are for (1) All or part of the file name:

The 2nd is A word or phrase in the title:

The 3rd gives u a drop down arrow.....Look in:

I chose Local Disk (C for Look in:

If I use (1) - & type in Juicy Stakes ...........I get no results.

If I use (2) and type in....Juicy Stakes....I get 108 files.

I think they all have to do with that poker site I deleted called "Juicy Stakes"
.....maybe they have something to do with uninstalling or updating that site.....all the files are very similar

Again, I deleted this site from my computer

Under name they say spuninst.inf

Under In Folder they say similar stuff like

C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB2756822$\spuninst

BOTTOM LINE - CAN I JUST BRING ALL 108 FILES UP AGAIN ON THE SEARCH PAGE AND THEN JUST DELETE ALL OF THEM?

THERE ARE SOME FILES THAT ARENT LIKE THE SPUNINST ONES

THE NAMES OF THOSE ON THE LEFT SIDE ARE LIKE THESE

drwtsn32.log

asl.034059_09Mar14.log

PokerClient_Log104.part.log

PokerNotifier_Log102.part.log

setupact.log

The folders these are in are different too....most all of these names & folders are blue.....but there are a few in black for some reason

OK - is this enough info about these files where its OK to delete all of them or not? THANKS

Those files in C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB... are nothing to do with a poker site. They're uninstall files for Windows updates.

If you're just trying to delete all trace of a particular poker site you should leave them alone.

How did you "delete" the poker site? Did you delete a file or folder from C:\Programs or similar?

It sounds as though you are using Windows XP. What you need to do is go to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs. If the poker site (Juicy Stakes?) is still listed, then select it and click uninstall.

Yes - u are right - I'm using XP Pro & I know Microsoft quit supporting it last April. If I remember correctly - I did remove it from the add/remove page, but I'm not positive.

For 1 thing - I don't understand why they come up in the 2nd box & not the 1st - they say almost the same thing. But they all came up when I wrote Juicy Stakes.

I did double check and Juicy Stakes isn't a program I have in the add/remove page anymore. I just wanted to remove any files related to that site as long as they don't mess up something else when I remove them.

SO THE BOTTOM LINE IS YOU'RE SAYING I SHOULD JUST LEAVE THEM BE.

I think you should get a un-installer program like "Revo Uninstaller" or so, very easy and better then your windows uninstall software, much more thorough.

But if you do a maintenance on your windows, most of what is left behind get's deleted

No torrent talk.

That post is not going to help OP very much. OP is unlikely to be using torrent sites (and, OP, that's not something you need to be doing anyway).

Revo Uninstaller (OP - this is free software, available here) is something I considered but actually I think the native Windows uninstall interface is all OP needs for this problem.

As for your suggestion that people download infringing copies of software (whether Windows 7 or otherwise), I sense an unhappy future for you. 2+2 doesn't allow that.

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE

Actually, I do belong to a PC Help Forum called "Tech Support Guy" & just went there to see if my last question there was answered from the other day & it was.

Although I've had mixed results using the PC help forums. Maybe cause my posts are usually pretty long because I want to be thorough & I think that a lot of folks prefer shorter questions.....thats just a guess.

Also, some of the replies I get are way too complicated for me to even try because I'm afraid I might make things worse.

I asked that question here cause I was at this site anyway reading some stuff & figured since it was poker related - why not just ask it here.

I got a very late start with computers in my life & they are so damn complicated when you are trying to figure some things out.

There is a 3rd party program that I know most online poker players use called Hold-em Manager (& another called pokertracker) - those 2 are the most popular.

I bought Hold-em Manager to try and keep up - because it gives people a big edge if they have it and u don't. I hate that about online poker. Its a different game than "Live" poker.

Anyway - trying to use Hold-em manager playing at different sites and games & amounts & ring games & tourneys & on & on. I gave it up because I think I got to the point where it was "Garbage in - Garbage Out" which I think I read was an old computer saying & thats what I thought was happening to my Hold-em manager.

When I got it - if I tried to learn how to do 1/2 of the things it does I woulda had to study 40 hours a week for I don't know how long.

So I just play at a site now where they only allow that stuff for the current game you're in. All u have to do is change tables and they can't track u supposedly.

When u join a game u are just a number - no avatars or usernames.

Well i guess you missed that OP is using XP, and un- install software is! proven better then the win standard un-install, and more thorough.

And because these and many software is ridiculously over-priced, not every-one can afford to buy it, i for one buy my software because i can afford it and i use torrnt sites for tv series only that i can't see here in the Netherlands or not yet.

And for your sense i don't care or have any interest for, and i thought i was not allowed to name name's of those sites, so my bad, and it has been corrected already by the management, and i can't say i am unhappy, i hope that does not make you unhappy? lol

Aha well there are much free to use software on the net, just typing your question on Google can get you lots of info also.

And no if you don't know what or to what program a file belongs you should not delete it.
the maintenance programs of your windows can/will remove a lot of un-used and/or left behind files from previously removed/deleted, files/programs.
So maybe it is a good idea to start by learning how to use the windows XP maintenance programs, you can find those instructions on the Microsoft websites.

And like i said before by just simply[and as short as possible] typing your questions on Google or Bing you get a lot of info, i can tell you i have learned a lot that way.
Some explanations you understand and other ones you don't, and they are both about the same question[s].
So just take some time for it and i am sure you will learn something.
Good luck

ccleaner FTW

Why not just backup what you need and re-install your OS?
