New laptop - browser freezing with low memory warning (Windows 10) New laptop - browser freezing with low memory warning (Windows 10)

I had my Asus F555L laptop (4 GB RAM) for a couple months and, using both Chrome or Firefox, it's been freezing if I have more than a couple tabs open. Scans clean on Bitdefender and Malwarebytes. Youtube seems to especially slow everything down. I've gone to the command prompt and scanned the memory and it also comes back clean. Any other ideas on what I can do to find what's causing this problem?

Thanks for the reply but when i got to the gpedit.msc part that file wasn't in my computer. Other people have said the same thing. Maybe it's not on Windows 10 home version?

@Brock- You are correct, Group Policy is not supported in Home SKUs of Windows.

Setting your pagefile to System Managed or around 16,384 MB should help with the warnings, if not necessarily making your system a ton more responsive.

If you want to deep dive into this, SysInternals Suite, specifically process explorer can show you what processes are consuming with more detail than Task Manager.

4GB is on the low side these days. Per the online specs, your computer supports up to an 8GB DDR3L SODIMM (have to replace what you have rather than adding to it). 16GB DDR3L SODIMMS do exist, but are not certified for your laptop. They may or may not work and are at a significant price premium over smaller modules.

Thanks headtrauma,
I set it to System Managed and I haven't had a single low memory warning today and everything seems to be running a little bit faster. I always buy cheaper laptops because I've never had any problems with the simple things I use a computer for, basically just Internet, Word and Excel. I though 4 GB RAM was pretty decent but I'm pretty far out of the loop on what are good specs nowadays. I'll look into upgrading to 8 or 16 if the problem persist.
