Re: new build won't start

no. in the description and specs section it says:
Quote:
Male DVI-D to Female VGA Adapter. The Male DVI-D to Female VGA Adapter is designed for digital-to-analog converter machine only. And it can not change digital data to analog data directly.
this is just an example and not at all a product recommendation, but you'd be looking for something like this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/StarTech-H...ersal/19486084

everything i've seen (again, very quickly) is $100+, so you're much better off just buying a monitor supporting DVI-D / HDMI.

i'm really not picky at all when it comes to audio/video quality. my luck has been fine with samsung, asus, and hannspree monitors, but in a small sample size. hopefully someone else can provide a more solid recommendation.

yes. maximum resolution will be the same as single link.

Re: new build won't start

lol thanks

all this time i plugged the monitor that was both vga and dvi-d compatible into the vga socket, and was looking for an adaptor for the monitor that has vga only.

didn't know you can plug a dvi-d single link into a dvi-d dual link socket. don't have to buy an adaptor anymore as i just found out yesterday i had a dvi-d single link cable all this time lol. i was using vga this whole time (monitor is both vga and dvi-d compatible). other monitor is only vga.
