Need help. Cannot connect to internet.

So I'm using my mobile now. Since a week ago, the modem has been chaotic. It seems to connect at random times at night. I've opened 192... And it said the access was denied. My ip is comcast. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Re: Need help. Cannot connect to internet.

Reboot modem, router if applicable, reseat your ethernet cable at both ends. If that fails, call Comcast.

Re: Need help. Cannot connect to internet.

he means make sure your ethernet cable is connected , you might not be using a cable though if you are on wifi

what do you mean by "access is denied" when you try to connect to 192.168.1.1 ?

the default login/password is usually " admin/password "

go to your Windows Start menu and go to "run" and type "cmd" to access your DOS prompt

then type "ping 192.168.1.1"

you should get 4 lines that says "Reply from... " yada yada

if you do not see this then your pc doesn't see your router.

Re: Need help. Cannot connect to internet.

i can open the modem fine,
It's saying the upstream access timing out.
I set out a WAN ping and timed out for all of time.

Re: Need help. Cannot connect to internet.

just to clarify, you can access 192.168.1.1 in your browser?

when you pinged 192.168.1.1 in the DOS command prompt, it timed out?

yeah.
I pulled the cable out and let it sit and cool down, then swapped the ends (I dunno why.), seems to have helped a little, haven't been D/Cing yet. Maybe the wire in the house was overheating?

Re: Need help. Cannot connect to internet.

resolution: turns out it wasn't my modem. As it was, the modem was being overloaded from the wiring. I've lost TV till monday, when they bring in the street techs, but that's fine.

Thanks to all the people who helped me out.
