It's a good investion to keep the machine silent at full load and/or high environment temperatures imo.

That site is wrong. The PSU fully supports haswell CPUs. I have no problems with it in all forms of energy saving / sleep modes. Here's a quote from their spec sheet:

Quote:
Haswell Ready

The series power supply is compatible with Intel 4th generation processors to use the new efficiency features.

Compatible with the newest Haswell based PCs to maximize power control and efficiency

It's worth it. Let me tell you a fun story. I had a standard intel heatsink setup on a machine.

After about 4 years the plastic nubs that locked it into the back of the motherboard got sawed through from small vibrations. It caused the CPU to instantly overheat because the connection was lost.

Also as stated above if you live in an area where it gets warm then it really helps with temps.

Intel support list

Neither the XFX itself is listed, nor the SeaSonic S12II-520, which is what's actually inside the XFX case. The thing with "Haswell-Ready" is, it's not an official certificate, it's a marketing promise.

The article also said it will most likely work flawlessly with most Haswell setups. Only in the rare case it doesn't, C6/C7 should be disabled.

Oh, I didn't read the article. I picked out the XFX only because it's running SeaSonic parts under the hood. It was recommended by quite a few people as a high end affordable PSU.

So I'm starting to receive most of the parts and can't wait to put it all together,

I have a slight problem though I wanted to get this done asap, but the place where I ordered the PSU has a back order and I may not be able to get it until next week.

So I'm thinking of going with a different option http://www.ebuyer.com/480180-xfx-xxx...y-p1-750x-xxb9

Now I don't know much about PSU's so please tell me if this isn't ok, or will this be fine?

750w seems like overkill, but the actual unit ought to be fine

CPU - 84W, less with the iGPU disabled
GPU - <75W
anything else - probably <100W combined

-> Even a 400W PSU will more than suffice, and even allow for an upgrade to a 150W GPU. A 550W PSU will get you prepared for a high end GPU with 300W TDP. Anything above 600W is for multi-GPU setups.

edit:
What about this, for instance:

Might also want to look into Corsair's CX series.

I would just like to thank all of you that help me with this

Eventually managed to set the system up, Seems super quick too compared to my Imac. Super Happy about it right now

I was a little worried about the quality of the display but it seems to be no different so I'm happy with that.

So as I said the speed is a huge difference and I just tested CSGO on its highest settings and I got between 240-270 comparing this to my my Imac where I get 120 at best on lowest settings.

Very happy improvement!

Yes certainly overall very happy with it, I actually returned the cooler, I figured that it was way to big and I don't really need it, So I just stuck with the standard intel one.

It is pretty big, almost in a comical way. The stock heatsink will probably be good enough for you. My computer room is an inferno during the summer tho.

Yeah agreed when I opened it I was like wtf is this this thing could be my fan for my room lol...

But yeah I don't really need a big 1 ... My room stays pretty cool even through summer time, Also I don't think I will make my computer work as hard as you.

What will you be using it for? For poker I'd think it is more than adequate.

I purchased this one for my partner http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-8700/pd...el_id=xps-8700 Its excellent! (uses it for photo-edit & poker < obv.)

I don't know how that compares to mine, but generally if you build from scratch it will come out cheaper. Also there is a bit of satisfaction when you do finally build it well for me there was anyway.

but yeah it all depends what you need it for, think for the future also. No point buying a PC having to upgrade it in a years time (not saying you would with the PC you linked.)

Thanks for the answers. guys. Well, i`ll use it for poker and some FPS games, mainly CS:GO, and the one i have now it`s pretty old, i can`t play many FPS games at full capacity, and even when it`s on low settings it still freezes sometimes, and can`t upgrade it either, because like i said, it`s pretty old, and i have to buy almost all components, that means start from scratch, and it`s pretty hard for me, because i` not a computer savvy, and i don`t know much of alot of components, which one is better, and so on...Poker_Orifice, i can`t afford that one atm, i only have like 700-800$, so maybe you guys have some other suggestions, or maybe this one is decent enough? It will be much appreciated. Thanks!
