Yes you can, RAM is downwards compatible, ie. 1866MHz RAM will run at 1600MHz without issues. You should then even be able to slightly sharpen its timings or undervolt it.

Dedicated 1600MHz RAM might save you some bucks though. Just make sure that if you get high-profile RAM, the CPU cooler will not interfere (ie. collide) with it - this shouldn't be an issue with the board I suggested though, even less with the stock CPU cooler.

^ i don't know what any of that means!

I have everything listed below already except the memory bc it's out of stock. I just need something to replace it.

OK so to keep it simple, since you went with the Z97 board you can use literally any 240pin DDR3-RAM there is, including the kit you picked (1866MHz G.Skill Ares). From the Gigabyte website:

Quote:
Support for DDR3 3100(O.C.) / 3000(O.C.) / 2933(O.C.) / 2800(O.C.) / 2666(O.C.) / 2600(O.C.) / 2500(O.C.) / 2400(O.C.) / 2200(O.C.) / 2133(O.C.) / 2000(O.C.) / 1866(O.C.) / 1800(O.C.) / 1600 / 1333 MHz memory modules

Just want to bumb this up to say fanks to the tec guys who help me put this together. I actually managed to build it myself and it was pretty easy apart from some annoying cables.
Massively different than playing on my old laptop and i'd say to anyone having doubts about building one themselves, dont! If i can do it, trust me you can too.
