just how bad is watching porn for your computer?

I watch porn prolly like 2-3x a week and I usually go to the same sites. I don't download any clips/movies but either watch them via streaming videos (.com for example) or the short sample clips that I open via GOM Player.

After every "viewing session" I always use CCleaner, SuperAntiSpyware and run an AV scan and every time nothing happens.

As far as my laptop slowing down, even if it does I have no idea whether it would be from porn or from something else.

What do you guys say?

I'd be willing to bet that 99% of "porn viruses" happen one of two ways.

1. User downloads torrent that is labeled as porn but is really malware. If you're downloading porn and get an .exe file, please don't open it. Be wary of archives as well (.rar, .zip, .7z, etc)

2. User downloads "special codec" or "flash update" at sketchy porn site. These aren't updates or codecs at all. They are malware. NEVER download or install something you aren't expecting. If a site says you need to upgrade Flash then go to Adobe's site directly and update it.

OP: I suppose you can never been too cautious but there is nothing inherently dangerous about online porn. Firefox with NoScript is also recommended.

Yeah I agree with funkyworms (and Thrahl). If you're just watching videos on the standard porn sites like bert and earnie, the sites that are generally known to be safe, you should be fine.

Pretty much the general rule is: only use porn sites you've used before and know are "likely" safe. NEVER click on the adverts provided with the sites, and NEVER agree to download some software or activeX component.

I'd also advise against using Internet Explorer to view the sites, and either go for Chrome, Safari or Firefox.

The real answer is to use web of trust & ad.block with firefox. If a site was harmful, web of trust would probably know. If you google porn, you'll see a fair amount of potentially dangerous sites in the top 10 results.

Honestly unless you're being bat**** ******ed it's quite hard to get a virus doing almost anything.
