Kaspersky has turned unusable with constant prompts that I can't get rid off, this only started in the last 12 months. I had been a client of them for years but I need to ditch them as the software has turned into garbage. What is the best one in terms of cost/benefits? Anyone got a coupon code?
Tks

One of the excellent free products, perhaps? BitDefender, Avira, Avast? Couple those with MBAM (also free version, although you can pay for premium if you insist).

Do you need a full internet security suite? What do you want this software to do for you?

Sophos is also for free now, so you can try that one too in addition to Avast!, Bitdefender AVG. These are recommended over Avira in my book.

I dont use free shyt when there are thousands of dollars on the line. I ended up buying bitdefender, got a good deal on slickdeals. $20 for Total Security 2017, thats AV plus Firewall plus computer optimization stuff (plus others)

Well, if it makes you feel more secure if you're paying $20 for it, then that's your call. Enjoy your "computer optimization stuff".

To anyone with a slightly less blinkered view reading this thread, the free software recommended above remains an excellent and is widely recommended. And while the paid version of bitfdefender is not a bad choice, the general principle is wrong: paying for something is no guarantee of security. See, for example, Ashley Madison.
