Repairing a 17" Macbook Pro, need help finding a part Repairing a 17" Macbook Pro, need help finding a part

I am looking for a Front Bezel/hinges for my 17" MBP and everywhere i look it says "Out of Stock" except of course ebay, which has 1 listed for 230$... i refuse to pay that much because i only need the bezel and maybe the hinge. the isight camera, microphone, and everything else is fine.

So i come to you 2+2 for advice on places i may track this part down, afaik Apple doesn't sell them so one can only get them off used laptops.

a part number is usually the first step...

You gave us very little to go off of. "I need brake pads for my honda" is basically what we have been given.

That's the thing there is no part part number as far as i know, because the part is not sold by apple, they require you to buy a whole new display at a price of $500+ which i am not willing to do.

The only description i am able to find calls it a front bezel and hinge. It's a aluminum plating that goes around the 17" LCD display... and from how it is cracking i guess it's connected to the hinge but is hardly reinforced.

Apple fails at replacement parts, so i believe there isn't an actual number as i've been told i would have to find one from a 17" MBP that is broken in other areas and take it from that.

I still think ebay is your best bet...

Look for the sellers that part out broken mac books and contact them...

or search completed listings for someone that sold/had one in the past.
