Hello,

I'm looking to purchase an Asus g53jw-a1. Its graphics card is NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460M with 1.5GB DDR5 VRAM which supports 2560 x 1600, but only via an HDMI connector. Anyone know which 30" LCDs would work with this laptop?

Thanks,
Vassil

Also pls rate the laptop, it seems like a really good end for a close to top-end model

2560x1600 + HDMI = not happening, won't work. quick search for laptops that support 2560 will lead you in the right direction.

you're better off with a laptop with displayport. that way, you know for sure that you can connect a 30" monitor at native resolution.

HDMI ports on laptops often don't support 2560x1600. I wouldn't pull the trigger on a laptop with merely HDMI without testing if it can provide 2560x1600 over HDMI.

According to the vendor at XoticPC: "The G53JW-A1 can output to that resolution as long as you monitor is HDMI 1.4 If it is lower then that then the max resolution is only 1920x1080"

Since the graphic card supports up to 2500x1600, doesn't it make sense that there would be a 30" monitor compatible w/ it? Only one I stumbled upon is the Gateway XHD3000, but its reviews are pretty mediocre...

Bah that Gateway's monitor is HDMI 1.2 so it only supports up to 1920 x 1200

So tilting...

Afaik, there's no 30" with HDMI 1.4, you should go Displayport as stated already.

Please tell me where it says that this monitor supports HDMI at 2560x1600, because from my vantage it looks like it doesn't even have HDMI... of course I am drunk...

The laptop has a dual link DVI port, and the graphics card outputs 2560x1600 through DVI...

So your question is now just "which laptop can I use with a 30" monitor?"
