This happens after it shows the bios loading (asus mobo) and the screen is black with a blinking line as if I am in DOS and about to type something. It stops there and won't load. I tried putting in my windows xp cd to reload it but then when it says "press any key to load cd/dvd" it freezes on that screen as well. Any help on this would be appreciated
if you have any usb devices ie/ your portable hdd, ipod, phone etc, unplug them (or disable boot option in bios, if it's set to priority). If you have a floppy drive check to see if there's is a disk in it.
You seem in trouble. Try to get your data off the drive and try to reinstall. I'm not aware of one single trick that can solve this, as there are multiple causes for this behaviour.
