Having Mouse Lag/Stuttering Issues... Anyone know a cure? Having Mouse Lag/Stuttering Issues... Anyone know a cure?

Hey all...

First timer posting... Literally, just made an account.

Hopefully, someone came across this same issue to give me a hand on a fix.

So... to make long story short. I've been having mouse lag/stutter/spasms, while heavy multi-tabling (8-12tables), recently. I haven't had any issues up until middle of last week. I thought it was my laptop acting up or having a dual monitor was giving me the problem (but using the second monitor was solid/smooth for a while now). So, I know it couldn't be the dual set up. I ended up buying a strong desktop, set it up to the same monitor, started grinding today and the lag is still there.

I'm clueless on how to fix this... I think I've tried everything that I feel comfortable on doing myself, except calling up Microsoft to give them hell...

Let me know, Team!

Thanks for reading.

I'd uninstall and reinstall my mouse drivers. Make sure you get exact mouse drivers and not something generic installed by Windows.

Another route of attack would be to fire up your process monitor/Windows Task Manager and see if anything is eating up a bunch of your CPU time. Once you've identified the culprit, make sure it's updated. If that doesn't fix the high CPU utilization uninstall it, reboot, reinstall the program and see if that fixes the issue.

If its wireless check batteries and any obstructions (for example if the dongle is at the back of a pc wedged into a corner try moving to a front usb port)

but if its only happening while ur putting more and more strain on resources then it seems more like a system problem i.e RAM etc

whats ur system details. u should do as suggested above check task manager at start before anything is opened and as u open each table check cpu/RAM usage til u get to the point where stutters happen

definitely can't advise without you telling us anything useful.

What is the make and model of the mouse? Is it wired or wireless? If wireless, how does it connect? Are you using the mouse on a mousepad? If so, how old is it and what sort of material is it made of? Are you using the same mouse on the desktop as you did on the laptop? Did you use a mouse on the laptop? What type(s) of graphics cards are we talking about? What poker client? Does the problem start immediately or after a while of use?

Thanks for all the replies! Really appreciate it!

Sooo... After all the stress... You won't believe the most simple thing I did to fix this.

I removed the mouse pad and been using the mouse on the smooth table finish. Slides like a champ!

Hmmm... maybe I didn't need to buy the desktop after all. Haha nah it was worth it!

Thanks again!

Called it

Also, if it's an optical mouse, which it should be, feel free to check the sensor to see if there's any bits of your mousepad caught up in it.

A black, non-reflective mousepad should also work (and is ideal). Any pad by Razer for instance (who also makes good mice, but last I checked there are equal/better mice for cheaper). Especially if your mouse is optical as opposed to laser, because it sounds like your table might be shiny / reflective (which leads me to believe you have laser since you said it's working great on that surface).

Whatever the surface, keep it free of dust and debris that might cling to the mouse and obstruct the sensor while you're in a hand. Next time you get funky mouse behavior, dusting off the sensor should fix it.

Low battery is also a common culprit, but you shouldn't be using a cordless mouse for poker or gaming imo. Wired, optical, gimmick-free mouse + proper surface is the way to go for things requiring precision.

It ended up happening again, last night. I had 12 tables up and going but then at some point it started again (tilt mode ). I'm going to give everything above a shot and see how that all goes. I may even purchase a new wired mouse, well see. I'll keep you all posted.

WOOOOOOOHOOOO!!! Corsair M65 PRO has became my new soulmate!!!

I chose to purchase a wired gaming mouse today b/c I was a bit afraid to mess with deleting stuff (even though it was probably extremely easy) lol. Which, works absolutely phenomenal. Highly recommend.

Thanks for all the replies, once again! I'm glad I finally made an account and to be apart of the 2plus2 community.

Have a great year... if it's not to late.
