I was trying this out, and didn't mind having to pay a little since I hit the limit pretty quickly during testing. But it hung once and all the sync info was gone.
I looked around a bit more and found SyncBack (www.2BrightSparks.com), they have 3 different versions of Syncing software , the simplest of which is free. I liked interface better than allwaysync too, so I am using this for now.
+1 for Syncback. I have been using it at home and at work (they allow commercial) for quite a while now and absolutely love it. No issues.

I have a movie in avi format on my comp. What I want to do is make an animated GIF of a 10ish second clip of it, and resize it into an avatar. What's the best free software to do that with?

I'm no expert and may be totally wrong here, but I think Gimp will do it.

What is the best software to automatically batch identify a large number of MP3 files and properly format them with corrected data and album covers etc.
iTunes is not an option given the need for a credit card to register an account.
