good free software (for Windows) - Page 14 - Computer Technical Help

portable apps are the nuts. everything needed to run them is already contained in their own folder, so you can just put them on a flash drive and run on any windows box. some of them, like portable firefox, are even cross platform. there's also portable messengers and random other stuff.

edit: they are also very handy for setting various things up ahead of time for people that aren't so good at the computers.

Looking through my programs file and noticing a lot of programs that I thought I had uninstalled still have folders with files in them. Any good programs to get rid of files left over from programs I don't have anymore?

the free version will probably not get rid of these files now, but for future uninstallations i've found revo uninstaller to be excellent

I'm looking for a image file format convertor (specifically .img to .bmp or perhaps .img to .jpg).

It must be able to convert multiple files in the same directory.

Aren't .img files like things for virtualbox, vmware? Not meant to become .jpgs?

If you mean actual picture formats there is Irfanview that does batch operations; resize, format, color.

looking for the best program to convert flv from mozilla youtube addon to mp3. Used freez flv but then the free version ran out. Any help? Basically, I am going on youtube with mozilla, using their addon and it rips the video to flv and I want to transfer those files to mp3s.

I think it was here that I saw it but I cant seem to find it now lol.

A piece of software that allows you to change keys on your keyboard to do other things than they are intended for. Example being, changing the "Ctrl" key to be the shift key.
