Anyone ever use any services for signing documents electronically via email. Something like DocuSign without the $20 per month cost associated with it.

alternative to adobe reader that i like is Nitro PDF reader.

Forget about codecs, just use VLC. It plays everything, and I hate the idea of installing codecs for the reason you explain.

So is VLC really that good? I was very used to windows media player and kind of liked it
but I'm definitely going to give VLC a try if its the alternative to downloading codecs

If you need to download a codec to play a video, you probably should stay away from that porn site.

**** codecs obviously, but sometimes they are needed to play videos via Windows Media Center.

+1. In this case i use Shark007 or K-Lite. They each cover pretty much everything i have ever needed in the codec department.

VLC + Matroska + Combined Community Codec Pack should take care of everything.

I only use combined community codec and it seems to cover just about everything.

Their free account does not even have SSL encryption for sending the data. That's a privilege only to paid accounts.

I highly doubt that your data lies with any encryption on their servers.

Free does not necessarily mean it comes without a cost.
You give up any level of privacy by using this service.

Dropbox on the other side establishes encrypted connections and stores your files encrypted.

Why would even care about encryption of your family vacation shots?

All the garbage you leave on the web now will leave a trace. Companies are interested in finding patterns and links because marketing undergoes a change.

We don't know how privacy and the internet will work together in 50 years, so a little awareness about what is really a good service is and what not is probably a good idea in the long run.
