I uninstalled Pidgin a little while ago after it kept crashing on me. I'm now using Digsby and I think its much better. Now I can initiate group chat and it does audio and video too. You have to create an account that then lumps all your IM accounts and it even has some hooks into facebook and twitter. Good Stuff.

For PDF creation I use PDFCreator It installs as virtual printer like other similar pdfcreators.

So I just bought a new laptop and I has McAfee Security Center on it.

This guy at work who fancies himself the next bill gates almost threw a tantrum when he saw that I hadn't removed it from my computer yet and got something else. (oddly enough he didn't have any advice as to what else I should get)

I believe I have a 6 month free trial with McAfee. Is it okay to use that until the trial runs out and then get something else?

Of should I get something else right now? Any advice is much appreciated. I'll wade through this thread tonight at work when things die down and maybe I'll find my own answer but figured I'd post it here in case I strike out.

If McAfee isn't bothering you no use worrying about it right now. Switch to Avira Free or Microsoft Security Essentials when it McAfee starts begging you to buy.

Can you please tell me what it is because I was just trying to think of a way to do this. Thanks.

Just found this (was reading about in the Video Games forum) and it works a treat on the eyes if you're on your computer for a while each day/night

flux

F.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day

Looking for free software to extract and mount iso files, any recs?

Daemon tools lite (or whatever the free version is), can mount the isos and in the process, create virtual drives that, for me, make the process easy.

WinISO can extract them (though so can winRar if you tell it to), but I'm not sure sure if WinISO mounts.

Daemon tools Lite gave me the blue screen of death during install. WinISO is not free, the trial version is limited to 3mb file size for extracting, which is pretty much useless.

I got this message during install:

"The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. Continuing with the installation may impair or destabilize your system."

wtf? It says it's compatible with XP on the Cnet download site.

Try this or this.

Maybe the installer you have is corrupt; compare file sizes or Google the MD5.

ok thx I'll try the suggestions in those links. But in the first one, the guy is basically saying you should change a setting so the error message simply gets auto-ignored right? I should note that it gave me the option of ignoring the message and going ahead with the installation. I chose to stop installation because it sounded a little scary and I'd never seen that error message before. Do you think it would be ok to just ignore it?
