My wife's iphone has been dropped a ton (cracked screen) and I was wanting to get her a new one. She currently has an iphone 5. Instead of spending $600 on a new iphone, can I just buy a gently used one off of ebay (making sure I get the same carrier, verizon) and swapping the sim card.
I'll make sure to do a factory reset once we get the new phone, is there anything else I need to be aware of?

I'd suggest looking on Amazon for sold by Amazon refurb Iphones. The ebay phones should be fine, but there is a small chance of getting one with a blacklisted IMEI (serial #) that can't be activated (previous unpaid bill or reported stolen, etc.). With a sold by Amazon refurb, I'd be more confident of having recourse to get a different phone or refund if needed.
