If you're looking for high-end somewhat customized desktops you might want to check out Falcon Northwestcompany

Just got back and went to order. Puget is no longer selling the graphics card I had settled on (the one grizy suggested). Their site is auto-selecting this instead (which I guess means this is what they consider the replacement/equivalent to my previous choice):

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (EVGA, Asus) https://www.pugetsystems.com/parts/V...1060-6GB-11832

Best choice for my purposes?

The linked monitor stand (the Humanscale) does work with my monitors, would recommend.

It has the ports and RAM needed so it's fine.

Have been waiting to move into new office for the winter before ordering to avoid moving an assembled desktop. As I am more likely than most to move again, and maybe even attempt to travel with it (was planning on remoting in), we are looking at a small case build. Something like this:

http://puget.systems/go/144999

Getting this with it:

https://www.pugetsystems.com/parts/A...ing-Case-11264

Still wouldn't call it portable, but definitely much safer to move, and the only downside seems to be limiting future upgrades. Future upgrades that I can't see myself needing no matter how much I try to reconsider my needs. (It's also one of the least sexy 4k+ builds imaginable, I know.)

Does anyone see any issues with this, or want to try to talk me into the full-sized (Deluge Pro) build instead before I order on Monday?

Sorry for another bump, this will be my last hesitation before I commit. Thank you.

...yet, even with a single GPU config, there's no option to add a PCIe SSD.

That's just an issue on the config page. They seem to have intentionally limited the options listed under each system. I had the option to add 2 PCI-E drives. The case also supports up to 6 2.5" SSDs.

I also asked them to switch to non-ECC RAM and 3 Samsung EVOs (both not listed options for this system). They were happy to, and that brought my total down to $4076 (with hard shell carry-on).

Ordered on Monday, assembled and benchmarked after a 2-day wait for the 6900K to come in, currently in Quality Control.

Thanks for your help, glad I didn't mess it up too badly. Happy I pulled it down to around $4k and also lucked my way into a safer way to move it around. Freeroll on arrival.

Yeah, you learned fast. Once you know the hardware requirements and what parts make a real impact (CPU speed/cores, SSD, and spare RAM), the rest is just finding the form factor that works for you.
