Your processor is a bit old but I doubt it would be a problem. Try a lower resolution and see if that helps. I guess it could be a problem with your hard drive, can you check the SMART diagnostics?

Re: DIablo 3 choppy any ideas?

the CPU support list says i can use

"Intel Celeron Dual-Core E3400 2.60GHz 1MB Wolfdale 45nm R0 65W 800 F5i "

i found a price list that says

"Intell 775 pin E series E3400" $42

is that the same as the support list?

i currently have "intel core 2 quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83 GHz"

so mine is already better right?

It doesn't work that way at all, but yes, you have a better CPU. That shouldn't be the problem here and I would think your graphics card is more than capable according to the recommended specs for D3 also.

Re: DIablo 3 choppy any ideas?

i think i will just overclock

i have no idea what im doing but reading forums people say they get overclock from 2.8 to 3.4 without changing voltages

will my PC blow up if a newbie just changes the FSB a lil bit?

It's way more likely drivers. Or something along those lines. Don't go overclocking just for this because that is not the answer!

Re: DIablo 3 choppy any ideas?

Yeah slow down. Way down. You're talking about replacing your CPU with equal or worse CPUs after which you're going to likely have to reinstall Windows. Like I said before your CPU and video are fine. I wouldn't tell you that for no reason.

And you can't overclock your problems away. Overclocking isn't difficult but there are certain hardware requirements. For one you may not have sufficient cooling (even more a concern with a hotter chip such as yours).

It's possible you're experiencing some of the same problems that other Diablo 3 players are reporting. My advice is to get active on one of those forums like wahoo suggested and try to be a little patient.
