Hi guys, im not the best with computer knowledge. Anyways, my macbook cant handle the HUD on my HEM anymore, so need to update my laptop. Instead of just getting a macbook my friend suggested to me a custom build site. I had one of the customer service guys help, but just wanted to run it by some other people before i bought it. I probably went way overkill, but I really dont want to have to update it for a few years. It basically just needs to be able to handle HEM, multiple poker site and a large database...and be v fast! Heres what they came up with:

Chassis & Display Vortex Series: 15.6" Matte Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Processor (CPU)- Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-4810MQ (2.80GHz) 6MB
Memory (RAM)- 32GB KINGSTON HYPER-X IMPACT 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 (4 x 8GB)
Graphics Card-NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 860M - 4.0GB DDR5, 1152 CUDA Cores - DirectX® 11
Memory - Hard Disk 480GB KINGSTON HYPERX 3K SSD, SATA 6 Gb/s (upto 540MB/sR | 450MB/sW)
2nd mSATA SSD Drive- 480GB Kingston SSDNow mS200 mSATA (upto 530MB/sR | 540MB/sW)
DVD/BLU-RAY Drive -8x SATA DVD±R/RW/Dual Layer (+ 24x CD-RW)

Sound Card - Creative Sound Blaster® Omni Surround 5.1 External
Bluetooth & Wireless -GIGABIT LAN & WIRELESS 802.11N CARD + BT 3.0 (RTL8723BE)
Wireless Router/HomePlugs ASUS RT-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N900
USB Options 3 x USB 3.0 PORTS + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT AS STANDARD
Firewire 1 X 1394a FIREWIRE PORT
Battery Vortex Series 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (5,200 mAh/76.96WH)
Webcam INTEGRATED 2.0 MEGAPIXEL WEBCAM

Pretty pricey at £1800. roughly $3000.
Anywhere I can bring down costs, or have I got anything completely unneccessary?

Thanks for your help

easier to say where you can't bring down costs tbh

I want it to be fast(and still be in a couple of years) with a big harddrive, so want these to be as max as possible. I guess the CPU may be overkill? Im really not sure. Anyways, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I thought 2nd ssd drive may not be necessary also

I don't see why you need 2 large (480GB) SSD drives. How big is your database?

~2 milly hands. Could cull some of the older ones. Want it to cope with the next few years too

But yeah, think it's a good idea not to get that and add it on if I need it later

that's all well and good, except that you'll never use half of what the i7 can do, will never have a need for 1TB worth of SSD space, will never use the graphics card and will never use 20GB of the RAM you have installed.

lol you dont need a gaming laptop for poker.. you dont need 32 gb of ram.. you dont need a GPU at ALL especially a gtx 860.. the calculations done on hud are all done by the CPU.. you can get a 128 gb SSD and buy a separate external hard drive for the database for a fraction of the cost..

if you want a good laptop for poker and hud, get a laptop with a good CPU like the i7 listed above with a SSD and about 6-8 gb of ram. thats all you need.

I don't see any use for that GPU nor the 32GB of ram. Don't buy a 128GB SSD like Love_the_game says, dunno why he/she keeps giving bad advice. The SSD is a fundamental part speed wise with databases. You do not need 2x 400GB though. Get a 500GB one from SAMSUNG, not damned Kingston, if you don't want to be swapping it any soon. Also, no need for mSATA SSD. SATA 3 is more than enough.

nice laptop. that SSD was probably more than a third of the total price.
