Crucial M4 128GB solid state drive - $100 free ship (NewEgg today deal)

http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/7474...sd-ct128m4ssd2

People asking about decent solid state drives, this one is pretty good. Not the fastest but close enough that you won't give a **** and has been reliable.

This would be a monster upgrade for anyone with a mechanical hard drive who has never used an SSD.

It's a 2.5" laptop-sized drive which is the size standard for SSDs, as opposed to the big 3.5" standard hard drive. To put it in a desktop you would want an adapter like this.

This SSD is designed to run on the faster SATA 6gb/s connections which are found in the newest computers. Other machines will only have SATA 3gb/s connections, but the drive is still fully compatible (it will just be slowed down a bit since it can transfer data in excess of 3gb/s). Still plenty fast though and a worthwhile upgrade.

Prices have been dropping a lot on SSDs in recent months but imo this is a good value today, and they have a good record compared to competing drives.

NY, NJ, CA pay sales tax. Also note that if you sign up for Shoprunner free trial, 2-day shipping is free. Or you can skip that and take the "regular" free shipping, which is usually pretty fast from NewEgg anyway.

And I know someone's going to ask, but:

I don't know what to expect as far as SSD prices X weeks or months from now. They've been falling at all capacities especially this size and higher, so maybe you want to hold out for a 240 or 256 GB to fall more. But I don't know.
