Connecting a USB stick to an ipad3

I am getting my wife an ipad3 for her birthday. I googled this as well, but am still not certain. The ipad has no USB port. The have the camera kit, but can I connect a standard USB stick for transferring multiple file types(.jpg, .txt., .doc, .odt, .mp3/4, .wav, .mov, ..avi etc)?

My wife heard there is a cable, like an adapter for ipads but I cant find it either on google or apples website. I have read a lot that USB and ipads are a problem, but it seems more directed at USB appliances that need a lot of power. Does a stick work over the camera kit? And with any files?

Re: Connecting a USB stick to an ipad3

Dropbox is a good way to bring data to your iPad.

Another solution is the i-FlashDrive It's a storage device with flash-memory that has two connections: A normal USB and the one for the iPad or iPhone.

Didn't try it myself, but sounds like something you're looking for.

Don't have an Ipad, and FFFFUUUU Apple but, doesn't the 30pin dock connector charge by USB? Just use that?
