My laptop froze while I was using it and a clicking noise started from upper right quadrant. In desperation I force shut it down to try and let it maybe cool off and restart. When I try to boot it up again I hear that noise again and get the message from title. Am I completely ****ed? Any help is appreciated.

could be fan or HD but don't panic yet

try to blow out any dust from any vents u see and the fan area bottom and side vents usually. If the fan is stuck it could make that click noise like its trying to turn but cant. If anything remove battery and use a hoover ( ***ALTOUGH using a hoover is at own risk , cos of static build up) best to blow or get a can of compressed air, A good hard blow usually with give u an inclination tho.

If not could be a hard drive issue.
