Can't get GPS on old phone, please help

I am in a bit of a pickle because I need gps for work and it's a new job. My phone broke so I'm using my old iphone4. It has a 7.1 IOS and it seems most GPS apps won't run on it anymore. The Google Map app that came with it isn't running either. Not sure why. It just won't search and give turn by turn instructions.

I need GPS until I get my new phone in the mail. The other option is buy a Garmen but I don't want to spend the money (or buy and return). Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Buy a phone. GPS came into phones ages ago as standard on smartphones. Since then tons of new and bigger phones have come on to the market, with much better cameras etc, which have crushed the value of second hand phones to nothing, even those with perfectly good GPS capable of perfectly good navigation. An HTC wildfire, /S, for example, could be had even from a second hand phone/electronics shop for about 20 bux. An HTC desire for about 50.

If you have a data plan, Apple or Google Maps should work fine.

If you do not have a data plan, Garmin's GPS app should work great for you. I have a similar app from TomTom, which is no longer available in its full form. But it is now free for a small amount of use, then you can pay to use it more.

Someone you know must have something - be it an old Garmin or phone - you can use during the window of time until you get your new phone.
