Bios Update driving me insane

Hey everyone,
I could really use some help:
I have an M17-R1 alienware that recently went buzurk
Instead of reinstalling vista, i thought i would upgrade to windows 7 since i needed to format anyways
Most of the drivers I found on dell's website worked perfectly except for the bios
cant seem to flash it correctly
well first, i have the Intel W841.B10 Bios installed
i found a newer one on dell's website but when i try to flash it, its giving me an error like file image has a different code or something like that (dont want to try it again maybe it will screw everything up)
now i wasnt able to stop nod32 and comodo completely when i flashed maybe thats why it didnt work, but im not sure why it would give this error message then
I really have no clue
can anyone help?
How do i update this darn bios?

Re: Bios Update driving me insane

The M17 BIOS is not on dell's site. The only legit way to get it is to sign in to your Alienware account on alienware's support site.

You may be able to find it on a filesharing site but this is not advised.

Re: Bios Update driving me insane

Any specific reason you want to update the bios? You really shouldn't be messing with updating your bios without confidence.

If your alienware system was bought before 2009 you should not be using dells site for drivers or bios updates.

As mentioned you need to sign into alienwares support site since yours was purchased before 2009 and your invoice should be listed. You click on it and it will list updates available. If you are confused or do not have this info call alienware.
