Re: Apple's new MBP Retina 15', suitable for poker?

I just bought a retina MBP and installed windows. Half of the poker clients look like complete ****, party poker being unusable. Anyone have any tips on optimizing the retina on windows for poker? Id like to use the Mac OS but many clients still dont support it.

I presume you're running at 2880x1800 since it's Windows? Have you tried increasing the font to 200%? Not sure if that is the maximum or not, but that's the minimum you should do. Under English Windows it should be roughly right-click on the desktop>change>display(bottom left)>custom text size(on the top left) and then go to 200%.
Other option is to reduce the resolution. You might have to go down to 1920x1200.

Have you fixed this? If so are you satisfied with how it looks now? Also does the laptop get really hot in windows? I have an old MBP 17" and its really hot in windows.

Thanks

That's what I first thought as well, overheating issues seem to be normal for MBP. Last 4-5 months it shut down from overheating twice this is my main concern for the new rMBP.

Are you running at the native resolution?

Did you turn off the font enlargement?

This is how I got it working for the most part (HM2 still not 100%)

Re: Apple's new MBP Retina 15', suitable for poker?

Is there any way to fix this "overheating when running windows" problem for mbp?

I literally want to put my mbp on an ice rock every time I run windows.

Are you saying it does not get hot when you play and in windows or it doesnt get hot in Mac OS? Also what about that resolution, you run it in native, is this highest resolution 28xx something? Do you achive this in windows?

Many questions but where I am this MBP costs 3k so I dont want to shell out that money and then hate it.

Thanks

Re: Apple's new MBP Retina 15', suitable for poker?

IME, it does not get hot running either OSX or Windows. Certainly nothing like my 2008 MBP.

I am running Windows7 at 2880x1800. I had to turn off the font enlargement that is set by default after running bootcamp because it made the poker clients look really messed up. I assume this is the problem edbighead was encountering.

Wouldn't all the numbers be too small then? Or does the Retina make it magically readable? Would be really cool if somebody would upload a video of unresized tables in native 2880x1800 in Windows.

edit: Although it might still be hard to see how readable it is and it would have to be a video of the laptop and not a screen capture.
