Is there any significant difference between a 4k and a 1080p screen when the screen size in 15"? It might be used for a little poker if that is relevant. Andy advice welcome!

I'd be stunned if there's 15" laptops that do 4k exist as that would be incredibly pointless

bunch of 4k 15" laptops. im actually typing on a 4k 12.5 laptop now. it really depends on what you are doing with it. if you only play a few tables like 8 or less then you dont need a 4k. if you someone like me who play 30+ and likes being able to hotswap between a 4k tv/monitor and laptop without scaling/resolution switching then 4k is a must.

thanks a lot.

do you think having 4 tables tiled on a 15" laptop is just too small no matter what? is it easier to see 4 tables on a 4k vs 1080p such that you can use smaller sized tables and still make out the text without issue?

my only comparison is from 1080p to a big step down and that was a noticeable difference because making tables small with bad resolution made them blurry as hell but i have no idea if that is still a factor between 1080p and 4k?

not sure about too small, i had a 15" 1080p laptop like 6 years ago as my main grind machine and i tiled a lot more tables then that. obviously higher resolutions are going to give more clarity to finer small things like hud stats. the only thing to note is once you go up in resolutions its impossible to go back down, i recently had to replace the 4k tv i use as a monitor because its blacklight just died randomly under warranty, for a few days i was occupying a 27" 1440p monitor i used over a year ago, and it all just looked very blurry some hud stats hard to read and not able to tile as many tables without overlap, was a pretty annoying couple of days.

at the very worst you can do a few things if you go with 4k. if you decide the native resolution is too small you can just select a lower res to 1440p or 1080p and it will still look superior to a native 1080 screen. or you can leave it at 4k and set scaling to like 150% but some programs will have issues with scaling. if you go with 1080 your stuck with that no matter what.

really appreciate it coinflipper. specifically with poker, how does 1080 compare to 4k on a laptop of that size? do you need to change settings on poker sites or it runs smoothly? would you say it's 'easier' to multi table on a 4k display? forget hud, but purely about viewing the tables. does it look noticeably different having 4 tables tiled on 4k vs 1080p?

if by smooth do you mean can the computer handle the sites at 4k? yes although poker sites are typically poorly coded they are not very graphic intensive at all using any at 4k wont cause lag over at 1080p.

if you are trying to decide optimal resolution for a 15" screen the general consensus and from my own personal experience is:

4k= 32"
1440p= 27"
1080p= everything smaller.

but as i pointed out the benefit of going with the 4k is u can adjust it if u dont like it to a lower resolution but you cant adjust a lower resolution up. and last i checked most 15" laps like from asus,msi,gigabyte,aorus etc offer the 4k screen at a 100-200$ premium over the 1080p option, totaly worth it to me.

Price not the big issue, but from what I read, having a 4k touch laptop (the laptop I'm looking has touch with no other option) can cost nearly 40% faster battery drain which is a pretty major trade off.

So are you saying that if you had 4 tables tiled on a 4k vs a 1080p 15", the 4k wouldn't be any easier and clearer to see?

I've also heard some poker sites may not operate well with a 4k display? Anyone have any experience with that being the case or has that changed?

i play 888,ipok,party,stars,microgaming, and a little of ignition when in the u.s, they all worked fine. some issues like the popup windows on ipoker will be massive/out of whack if you set your windows scaling above 100%

Thanks for all the very useful info. The last question I'm still unclear about:
