I question the word "willingly". What choice did she have? She was 14. Did she speak French? Were her options in France really better than being the enslaved mistress and nanny for a very rich and powerful man who was married to her half-sister? Was she in a position to see that?

Ten percent on margin, if legal. If dubious, 50%. Bluntly illegal; depends on risk/reward, usually at least 150% plus lawyer fees, incidentals, and all travel expenses and safe house access, with booze and hookers always included.

DS drinks too much pond scum. My honest take is that this whole thing is mostly a tempest in a teapot. A very small teapot.
