A sage or a genius? Why? Which is more valuable, and why?

I would have to say sage. Why?? Because I want to.

If you're intelligent, you can trick people into thinking you're wise. If you're wise, you can trick people into thinking you're intelligent. Really their pretty much the same thing.

I'm pretty sure it is too late for me to be a genius.

In order to become wise a person has to have the ability to learn from experience through self awareness, thus intelligence in one form or another is prerequisite to wisdom.

I'd prefer to be wise, as it infers intelligence.

could op give us three sages to compare to geniuses?

The only people I see referred to as wise nowadays are judges and swamis. I don't want either of those jobs.

Who's more likely to be happy on average. A sage or a genius? I'd go with whoever is.

Suppose the smartest chimp in the zoo is lucky, too... Too bad he wasn't born a stupid human, then he'd be unlucky.

Are you implying that a sage can't be a genius or vice versa?

Also, I can't believe there isn't an option for race car driver - which would without question had been my choice of the (hypothetical) three.

No. It's asking if you had to choose from one. It doesn't say anything about whether you are one or both already.

Come on, you could have deduced that much from the OP.

You don't need genius to become a sage, just time and experience.

A never-ending path towards sagehood seems optimal.
