You can piss off a cat up to a point. Then the cat will get the upper hand nails out attitude and all, and you will start losing and when you have lost a lot the cat will finally lose all 9 lives...in an instant. And all that is left now is a human with cuts, a dead cat and a full scale regret for it all.

Lesson. Dont mess with superior civilizations by escalating attacks. Instead apply proper game theory and do not go overkill. Only that way cooperation can be taught in steps.

They've spoken to me and told me the meaning of life. The meaning of life can be reduced to two fundamental concepts. One: People aren't wearing enough hats. Two: Matter is energy. In the universe there are many energy fields which we cannot normally perceive. Some energies have a spiritual source which act upon a person's soul. However, this "soul" does not exist ab initio as orthodox Christianity teaches; it has to be brought into existence by a process of guided self-observation. However, this is rarely achieved owing to man's unique ability to be distracted from spiritual matters by everyday trivia.

When the extraterrestrials offered this advice about wearing hats, did they intend this to be taken literally? Or is this metaphor?

Well of course, form is emptiness and emptiness is form, but what does this have to do with wearing hats?
