US schools teach about Loch Ness Monster.

Just one of many links:

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/06...s-creationism/

This is hard for me to believe, but apparently it is actually in the curriculum that the "existence" of the Loch Ness Monster, a plesiosaur, proves that dinosaurs only lived a few thousands years ago.

How is this permitted? Doesn't anyone care about education?

Don't get your panties in a bunch. The smarter kids will learn how to put 2 and 2 together regardless.

Eventually, even the ones in such third world countries such as Louisiana will get up to modern standards.

I remember learning a lot about santa claus, tooth fairy, leprachauns and indians/pilgrims being friends when I was young.

I STILL BELIEVE

Re: US schools teach about Loch Ness Monster.

The issue isn't so much what's being taught imo (since the curriculum in question is not being taught in public schools but private "fundamentalist" religious schools where the students are probably already told that evolution is nonsense from the age of 0), or where it's being taught (not many schools), or how many students are being taught (lol one-room schoolhouses), but that taxpayer money is being used in the form of tuition vouchers for these schools.

Assuming that the students that "graduate" from these "schools" ever "interview" for any kind of "job," their success is unlikely, as their "critical thinking skills" will very likely "suck ass."

Re: US schools teach about Loch Ness Monster.

And if it DID exist, we know it plesiosaur, since it was correctly and accurately classified by paleobiologists, amirite?

This is clearly a picture of a drowning elephant.

Which proves, at least one elephant has lived in scotland around the time
the picture was taken.

Re: US schools teach about Loch Ness Monster.

even if the loch ness monster does/did exist, how does it disprove that dinosaurs lived however many years ago (some number a couple of fold greater than a thousand)?

I'm pretty sure I was taught about the Loch Ness Monster at primary school here in the UK, we made clay models of it and coloured in pictures of it. Was good fun

Re: US schools teach about Loch Ness Monster.

The myth has had major setbacks, with scannings of the entire lake and deductions there simply isn't enough of fish to support a the big Loch Ness monsters. Note the plural form. But maybe the single monster has been there for 6000 years, it would be just half a dozen times longer than the life span of Methuselah, who went on to be 969 years old.
