Not sure if this has been posted: lots of great Nova programs you can watch online are here.

Also, everyone should be watching Wonders of the Solar System, an incredible series that's airing right now on the Science Channel. It's hosted by Brian Cox, and the first few episodes have been incredibly good. I believe it was originally a BBC series. I don't know if it's posted online anywhere, but it's airing on Wednesday nights in the U.S.

Re: SMP Video Collection

I've been having a very strong craving for science in recent months and it's a craving I've never really had before in my life.

I was never in to school, always just slacked off and did nothing in class, waiting to go home. After failing my freshmen year and being moved to an alternative school my second freshmen year I put forth a bit more effort cause I connected with some of the teachers but still slacked off. Got my GED after a couple years there.

After school I was regularly interested in learning new things but only casually in science I guess ... I think I'm sort of having a bit of a mid life crisis or something. ... or maybe just a blip of one? I'm 28.

I was reading a chapter from the poker blueprint on part time poker and one of the things said really kind of struck me and I've been mulling over for a month or so I think.

It's a chapter on knowing when to move up in limits, and it talks about how you should be really aggressive when you're young to try to reach the higher stakes, and how you shouldn't get complacent and be content to grind out mediocre profits at lower stakes. And it says this

Quote:

The enthusiasm for learning the game has a relatively short span.

This is pretty ****ing scary to me imo. I don't want to get old and complacent. I don't want to lose the yearning, the desire to learn new things. So I think I think I'm going to dive into stuff and try to expand my mind imo.

I really don't want to get old :(

... so a bit tl;dr

I just started watching Carl Sagan's cosmos. Really really good so far. Definitely fills the intellectual craving I've been having. I think that craving not only comes from where I'm at in my life right now, but also from ****ing television. There's just so much god damn ****ing crap on tv. I can't ****ing stand it. So you think you can dance. Are you smarter than a fifth grader. balkjd pajkd;asfkljasd;fkljasd f

wtf is all this god damn bull****? It's making me ****ing dumb and god damn apathetic for ****'s sake. There's got to be more to life than this god damn ****ing crap.

so tl;dr, getting into Sagan, gonna check out some other vids ITT, and I think I'm even going to ponder going to college for some kind of science courses or something.
