I don't do the relationship thing. But if I did and wanted to break up, I wouldn't go through the drama and effort of concocting a diabolical scheme to trick the other person into thinking I was cheating on them so that they would break up with me in a (justifiable) rage. I think it would be easier to just tell them we should break up.

A few months ago I read an article online, I think it was in either Wired or Ars Technica. This guy's kid had a really bad rash on his ass that was rapidly getting worse. So he took a picture of the rash and sent it to the pediatrician using his android phone. Google's algorithm thought it was kiddie porn, so they locked his account and reported him to the FBI. This guy had google everything, google was his entire digital life. His phone, email, calendar, contacts, internet service, all his two factor authentication for his bank accounts, social media, etc. Gone.

After the FBI concluded that the pic was obviously not pornographic and cleared him of any wrongdoing, google still refused to unlock his accounts.

Its very hard to test if someone is lying to you.
Its almost impossible.
I did it with my ex but it was disastrous to our relationship.
I asked her if she reads my journals b/c i asked her not to, she said no, but I got a feeling she was, so I took a picture of my journal before I went to band practice and another picture when I got home and they weren't the same.
I didn't tell her about the pictures.
I asked her if she read it, she said no
I asked her if she moved it, she said no
I asked her if she was lying to me, she said no
Then she got aggressive at me, she got upset, and started making me feel like I was the one doing something wrong.
She started victim blaming/shaming me.
I believed her for a moment, then I said "no, reality is reality, and humans will deceive you"
After 5 or 10 minutes of her crying and yelling and doing everything a human knows how to do as if they are going to be killed, and they have to put on a performance to save their life, thats what she did.
After 5 or 10 minutes of that, I told her "look, as much as you know you didn't go thru my journal, that's how much I'm breaking up with you"
And then she admitted to me that she did.
But by that point, I cant tell if she is admitting it b/c she did it, or if she is admitting it b/c I just said I would break up with her if she didn't tell me she did it.
So it was a huge brain **** and the cops got called and I ended up in a mental hospital.
I tried to physically push her out of my house because she kept messing with my mind.
She broke me by lying to me and then was using all sorts of tactics on me.
She started throwing her stuff, breaking her pottery, arguing with me, screaming at me, crying, trying to convince me I was wrong.
So I said "okay, let me go thru your phone then" and she said "okay, and opened up her messages" and I closed her messages, and said "no, I'ma start a the first app you got and go to the last one, and it will probably take 4 hours" and she started screaming and grabbed her phone back.
That, not before, was when I finally knew I was being ****ed with.
You would think that the pictures would be enough, right?

You cant know you're being deceived until someone admits it to you.
Unless you are willing to go thru huge lengths and work with imperfect data and are willing to trust yourself above all others around you and do extreme things to find out based on following your feelings that your being deceived, but why would you want someone to do that? Just admit what you did.

Using smarts and strategy and detective work and etc to pressure someone into telling you that they deceived you isn't the right answer. I think just showing them how miserable their deceit has made your life, and then waiting and hoping for compassion, is the correct play, at least for me right now.

A human can only be 99.99% sure about detecting deceit at best, and even then, the last 0.01% has to come from an admission from the other side.
